Sadly a great disappointment. A beautiful location but poor service and even worse food.
By the 3rd course I could empathise with the multiple wasps and beetles bouncing off the window overlooking the vineyard, desperately trying to find a way out.
We were told on arrival (not at the point of booking) that there would be no a la carte and we would receive the tasting menu. This should have been a sign to go home.
5 courses of pre made food all served cold.
I think it was the steak tartare which had me glued to a toilet for the next 24 hours but what came out of me probably looked and tasted better than the hazelnut slop & raw anchovies we were served, easily the worst dish I have ever eaten.
*in response to the owner here, this is in fact very constructive for diners turning up to your restaurant and expecting choice, you do not give that option. The dishes may be local but they are not common and very distinctive so there’s a high chance a paying customer may not enjoy 4 or 5 of the options. Especially when 3 are raw steak, raw anchovies covered in cold hazelnut cream and red peppers in a pickle jar.
The fact that I am not the first customer to report stomach issues after visiting should also be of concern to an owner, maybe the 200 year old preparation techniques need updating because dining at your restaurant cost me a day of my holiday.
Someone looking to dine here will do what we did, see 4.5 stars and book but they absolutely should know the menu limitations and risk of an upset stomach before visiting. It’s the very definition of...
Read moreI ate here with my family and my wife's family (Americans and Italians) on a Friday night earlier this September. Making a reservation for our large group via email was easy. The food was amazing, and the location is beautiful. But:
The fact that we had to choose firsts, seconds, and desserts only by looking at a chalkboard in Italian across the room made ordering much more difficult. We were under the impression beforehand that it was a fixed menu, but only the antipasti were fixed. A printed menu would really have helped those among us that don't speak Italian choose (even if the menu was only in Italian).
Our waiter exasperated this problem. He would say the menu once in Italian and then explain what it is in English, but only once to a group of 14 people in a loud restaurant. Then he would start at one end of the table and try to take our orders immediately after announcing the menu. He also could not explain to us in either language how the plates would be served. We were not sure if we were ordering large dishes to share for the group, or individual plates. He really lacked patience with us. After taking individual orders, if he found one was missing (13 plates instead of 14), he would ask "who is missing?" when probably everyone ordered but he just didn't write it down correctly. I would of course give him some grace here if he was more kind about all these issues and misunderstandings, but he just came off as rude and impatient.
So the waiter really diminished our experience, but the whole problem could be solved by having a...
Read moreBy far the best out of Torino experinece so far! As a big hedonist I enjoy food places which have caracter and soul. I feel it is imperativ of the definition of full enjoyment. This place have it all. There is no a la carte menu, but two versions of full or semy full daily menu. I took and recommend full menu, but even the smaller one is more than enough for the majority of people. The food was simply out of this world, both gastronomicaly as well as visualy. The quantities a re abundant, so if you are not starving (and maybe the tactics should be that you come starving here) you will probably be full half way thru. The service is very plesent and fast and the prices are at least 30% less from Torino ones. The view from the place is breathtaking and reveals the full splendor of this part of Piedmont. I recommend this place...
