An expectedly wonderful dining experience! We initially tried to come for lunch, but when we arrived at 14:15, we were told the kitchen was closing. On their listing on Google, their lunch opening hours indicate until 15:30, so we thought we could get in a late lunch order. Well, I wasn’t going to argue, but I was disappointed as I was really curious about the menu and had read all the rave reviews. While we stood outside on our phones looking for a place to eat, one of the ladies came outside with a business card, advising me to call next time. Later that day, I was still thinking about the restaurant and decided to try to book for dinner, even though it was Saturday. I sent them a WhatsApp and got a very pleasant response confirming a table inside, as the outdoor terrace was already fully booked. We were welcomed so warmly by a sweet lady who recognized me from the afternoon and greeted me by name. She turned out to be our main server for the evening and was incredibly sweet and polite. The food was better than expected, and a whole lot more than expected! We ordered the two tasting antipasti (the one from the land and the white card from the sea) to share, thinking we would each get a large plate with five items on it. When we each started getting individual tasting menu sized and presented courses, we were thrilled! Ten “courses” between the two of us that were preceded by a tasty amuse-bouche and accompanied by that wonderful Sardinian flat bread and olive oil. We were already full but we had our pasta course coming. Rich and filling culurgiones and richly flavored fregula with red prawns, both delicious. The other two servers were also lovely, sweet, polite and efficient. By the time we finished off our bottle of wine, we were stuffed beyond any possibility of dessert, which I’m sure would have been just as delicious. Thank you to everyone at Merula Dorgali for a wonderful dinner and overall...

We saw that this restaurant had great reviews and were so excited to try it. Four of us walked and entered a completely empty restaurant at 1 pm on Thursday. When we asked for a table for 4, they told us they were full. We were confused as the restaurant was completely empty. They said they had reservations and it would be full in 20 minutes and were very quick to turn their heads and leave us confused. We happened to see the reservation book with 4 Tables booked (yes I recognize that’s not so polite- we’re from New York). The lady quickly condemned us and slammed the book closed and walked away. She told us to go to a restaurant down the road and when we began to walk our GPS said 20 minutes. Clearly just trying to kick us out. This service is pretty similar to what we have been experiencing throughout our stay in Sardinia (and then we wait while tables stay open for hours- YES hours). The food looked good online but we didn’t get to...

Themari was disappointing. I have no idea how it rates as 4.7 out of 5.

The staff and service were good and the location is pretty but the food was a total disappointment. The starter of an egg dish had lovely flavours but the egg was undercooked! Crab spaghetti was a rudimentary spiced spaghetti sauce peppered with large and small pieces of shell, many of which I found in my mouth... there was very little crabmeat, only what you could get out of the legs which was all that was provided. I had to ask for cheese. Lamb chops came with deep fried potatoes (certainly not roasted) and nothing else. It was dry, uninspired and overpriced. €10 for roasted veg was unimpressive. We informed them about the crab dish but they didnt offer anything to rectify it. We avoided dessert. The place is overhyped, the chef clearly doesn't have anyone able to tell him the truth....

A Michelin Star with the price of a cheap restaurant. The antipasti we had and the secondi plati were at a level of Michelin 1 Star. Never we had the chance to eat octopus and tuna this good and well served. Outstanding service and cuisine. A must go if you are in Dorgali. As for the person who didn’t reserved and ask for a table and been refused, I must say it is true. We were there at 19h30 and in less than 30 minutes the restaurant was full. There are only a few tables and a handful of personal to take care of you here. So if you want a good meal and service than yes you need to make sure to reserve. The two owners (the host and chef) soon to be husband and wife are wonderful. They work 16 hours day. Breakfast to diner. What they have accomplished so far is OUTSTANDING. They merit your time, money and admiration.

The food is really good, it offers many different types of fish based dishes, sushi too. This isn't a really important detail, but may I add, some of the names on the sushi menu are mispelled. Moving forward I'd say the prices are a tiny bit too high, but passable. The one thing that I did not like was that we had to wait quite a bit. We waited almost an hour for a few portions of sushi, and the restaurant wasn't even nearly full by the time we ordered. I would highly raccomend to go to a restaurant that specializes in sushi if you're looking for that in particular, since there's no "all you can eat" menu, and its quality isn't the highest. I'd say that overall, it's worth the wait and you definitely won't end up disappointed, unless you have astronomically high standards.
