We hadden niks gereserveerd, geen idee wat we precies gingen doen gewoon met z’n vijven in de auto gestapt en gegaan. Op de bonnefooi dus. Gelukkig was er nog een plekje vrij, op hooibalen! Klinkt misschien wat rustiek, maar er lag al een dekentje op en het zat eigenlijk verrassend goed. Origineel én knus.

De sfeer was meteen relaxed en gastvrij. Iedereen deed z’n best om je welkom te laten voelen. De bediening sprak vloeiend Engels, handig voor de niet-Nederlanders onder ons, en de gastvrouw bleek zelfs van Nederlandse afkomst dus dat klikte ook meteen. Kleine domper: Sting zelf liet verstek gaan (jammer hè). Maar goed, we hebben z’n muziek dan maar zachtjes via de telefoon opgezet. Toch nog een beetje die vibe, al was het dan op bluetooth en niet live.

Al met al: spontane actie, leuke verrassing, fijne sfeer en een bijzondere ervaring. Echt een aanrader voor wie van een beetje anders dan anders houdt en niet bang is voor een strohalmpje in z’n broekzak.

We had no reservation, no plan just the five of us hopping in the car and heading out on a whim. Luckily, they still had a spot left… on hay bales! Sounds a bit wild, but honestly? Super charming. There was already a blanket on them (nice touch), and they were surprisingly comfortable.

The atmosphere was warm and welcoming right from the start. The staff spoke fluent English, which made things easy for our mixed group, and the hostess turns out she’s originally from the Netherlands made us feel right at home. Now, small disclaimer: Sting himself didn’t show up (we were slightly hopeful), but we made up for it by quietly playing a few of his songs on a phone. Not quite a concert, but hey close enough.

First of all, I was left speechless by the atmosphere. I fell in love with the fact that the tables are all outside where you can enjoy the great views. Second, the staff is exceptional: very friendly and attentive! Last but not least, the food was amazing.
