Risorante Il Vecchio — Restaurant in Figline e Incisa Valdarno

This is the main restaurant in the HU camp. Whilst staying in Norcienne Girasol we visited this restaurant many times. There was not a wide range of vegan options, but when I got creative it was quite delicious. The first thing I had was a marinara pizza and as a side I ordered the grilled vegetables, thus creating a delicious vegan pizza! The base is crispy and biscuity in its consistency so I would say the local pizzeria would have the edge. Having said that the grilled veg is delicious and the combination works really well. Also on the menu they have penne with smoked tomato sauce which was vegan but not very well marked as such. I really enjoyed this dish, silky and satisfying. Definitely good whether you are vegan or not. Overall the service was very good here but when it got busy the food and drinks became quite staggered. So be aware if you are visiting at a busy time. The scenery is absolutely beautiful and the wood fired oven has a lovely aroma! Overall it's worth visiting if you are in the camp even if it is slightly higher priced compared with local...

Prenoto tramite loro sito, mi dà un orario di inizio e fine turno... essendo breve, ci portiamo avanti e leggiamo il menù nel pomeriggio. Arriviamo, e nonostante io abbia prenotato il patio, ci mettono in terrazza (ma va bene, abbiamo una carrozzina e abbiamo immaginato fosse per praticità il cambio). Al momento di ordinare mi dicono che il piatto scelto (il salmone) non è più disponibile, dovendo riguardare il menù suggerisco a mio marito di iniziare lui, ma anche in questo caso sia la sua prima, che la seconda scelta, non sono disponibili. Diciamo che 3 su 3 come piatti ultimati non è un gran che come inizio. Il cameriere, visibilmente in imbarazzo, ci dice qualche piatto ancora disponibile.... così ripieghiamo su delle pappardelle al cinghiale (niente di eccezionale) e su una cacio e pepe (che il pepe lo ha visto alla lontana e il cacio sembrava allungato con la panna talmente era leggero). Al dì là del gusto, che probabilmente va bene per gli olandesi ma non certo per un italiano che apprezza la buona cucina, anche la porzione era talmente striminzita che sembrava quella che le nonne ti danno per sentire se la pasta è cotta (stavano finendo anche la pasta e la dovevano razionare??). Abbiamo evitato di buttare via soldi per prendere anche il dolce e abbiamo concluso la cena lì. Il cameriere che ci ha servito è stato gentile e si vedeva che era imbarazzato sia con noi, perché non c'era molto disponibile del menù, che con altri tavoli perché le pietanze arrivavano con tempi di attesa biblici. Molto brutto vedere un altro cameriere che molto vistosamente masticava una cicca nel mentre che serviva i piatti. Nel complesso esperienza pessima. Non ci torneremo più. Lasciamo il posto a chi non ha idea di che cosa voglia dire una buona cucina e delle...

Two things: First the good: pizzas were ok. Nothing special but as to be expected.

Second the various Bad: My spaghetti Vongole however was dreadfull - 2/3 of the clamps were closed as the were served…. Send it back and after 40 (!) minutes of waiting I got an even worse plate. So bad…. Nearly all the clamps were closed. Service ignored us and never asked if it was better. So the star are only for the pizzas...
