Trattoria anni 60 — Restaurant in Forza d'Agrò

Food here is great, the view is stunning and service is the best it can be! Oysters are fresh, juicy, meaty and just perfect. Sea urchins spaghetti is surprisingly not too fishy, whilst the hint of chilli and garlic makes you want more and more. Seafood antipasti gives you a chance to try all the local treasures - it's like a Mediterranean sea on a plate! My personal favourite - swordfish stew. Octopus & caramelized aubergine salad - out of this world. Garlic & chilli spaghetti as simple as it sounds, was the best spaghetti I have ever had. Last but not least pistachio & shrimp risotto as an accompaniment to our grilled fish & seafood main - had so much taste and flavour it's hard to describe with words, one needs to try to appreciate all it's glory. We reserved a table on the balcony with a stunning view of the seaside, with all the twinkle lights & navy blue sea as it got darker... absolutely beautiful. The staff, whether they spoke English or not, all made us feel welcome and tried to joke and make a conversation which was ever so nice and made a real difference to our dining experience. One of the waiters had a real passion and knowledge for good wine, he knew all the local produce and types of grapes it was made from, we really enjoyed the wine he suggested for our meals. Le brutte esperienze fatte gli anni precedenti presso altri ristoranti blasonati del luogo mi hanno spinto a voler cercare qualcosa di nuovo; nel caso della "trattoria anni '60" è proprio il caso di dire che "nella botte piccola c'è il vino buono" !!!

Ho scelto di voler dare fiducia a questo locale per diversi motivi:

1. le recensioni negative che ho letto su di loro su gmaps e su TripAdvisor mi sono sembrate a volte troppo finte (quasi montate ad arte) e con il senno di poi posso dire che chi ha lamentato la scarsa qualità del pesce probabilmente non sapeva bene di cosa stava parlando (con un palato probabilmente abituato a trovare nel pesce surgelato sapori e profumi che esorto ad andare a gustare la dove li hanno trovati, di certo non qui!!)

2. le risposte che il titolare ha dato ad alcune di queste recensioni negative mi sono piaciute molto: lasciavano trasparire tutta la sua passione ed impegno per la ristorazione e quindi per la ricerca della piena soddisfazione del cliente; esattamente quello che abbiamo trovato io ed il mio gruppo di amici!

3. le recensioni positive, invece, facevano venire l'acquolina in bocca al solo leggerle (confermo tutto, parola per parola)

4. dalle foto si vedeva la disponibilità di un terrazzino da cui si poteva godere di una bellissima visuale sulla costiera (motivo per il quale avevo fatto espressamente richiesta per la possibilità di un tavolo per 7 persone). Purtroppo quel giorno ha piovuto ed anche se nel tardo pomeriggio aveva smesso il tempo restava incerto per la sera, motivo per il quale il giorno stesso della prenotazione, nel pomeriggio, ho chiamato per chiedere se era possibile spostare il tavolo al coperto; la ragazza che ci ha risposto è stata molto gentile e comprensiva e nonostante avessero già tutti i coperti organizzati ci ha detto che avrebbero provveduto ad una soluzione e che non dovevamo preoccuparci... Un po delusi dell'impossibilità di utilizzare il terrazzino a causa del mal tempo e rassegnati ad un tavolo al coperto siamo stati davvero molto colpiti e soddisfatti quando arrivando abbiamo scoperto che ci avevano trovato una nuova sistemazione sotto una veranda che affacciava sul vicolo ove era sito il locale; da quello che mi è parso di capire non erano soliti utilizzare quello spazio per allestire un tavolo quindi, come dicevo poc'anzi: tanto di cappello per il servizio offerto al cliente!!!

Per quanto riguarda il cibo nulla da dire se non che era tutto assolutamente buonissimo, freschissimo e dai profumi sublimi; eccezionale cortesia, simpatia e professionalità anche dal personale che ci ha descritto i piatti e la provenienza dei vini con dovizia di particolari ancontentando anche qualche piccola richiesta di "fuori menù"

CONSUMAZIONE: 3x antipasti misti di mare 2x pepata di cozze 6x primi (uno a testa li abbiamo presi tutti) 2x grigliata di pesce 1x spaghetti ai ricci di mare 4x vino bianco frizzante (bottiglia 750ml) 6x acqua 5x caffè ..degli ammaza caffè credo di aver perso il conto dolcetto gentilmente offerto

Alla fine della cena, con gli amici, ci siamo improvvisati giudici come nel programna di Alessandro Borghese... non siamo chef ma si può dire che siamo delle "buone forchette" :) ...senza voler assolutamente peccare di presunzione vi riporto i nostri voti:

PUNTEGGIO...

It's ok.

We went because it was a recommendation from our host of where we were staying.

After sitting down I was immediately put off by the very touristy decor (lots of references to the godfather), bad lighting, and a big screen showing football in the corner. Just wasn't the kinda vibe I was hoping for.

The service however was super amazing. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, they described which things they recommended and spoke good English. It felt like we were really valued which was really nice.

Then the food itself was kinda a let down. Which is a shame I feel bad giving bad reviews but it was mediocre and just not worth the value for money. I had a grilled swordfish which was a grilled slab, some wet shredded lettuce and like 8 lemons to fill the rest of the plate. Plus there really wasn't any flavour to it. But looking around the room all the plates that were coming and going looked...
