Macelleria Braceria " U PACCIU " — Restaurant in Francavilla di Sicilia

This was our absolute favourite meal in Sicily! We had done a 4x4 tour with Alcantara Quod down the hill and they recommended this place for lunch.

It is located behind a nice butcher shop. There is no menu, just a set appetiser and meat plate. Our appetisers included a beautiful selection of sliced meats and cheeses, a delicious caponata, a fantastic salad wit the best arugula I have ever had, olives, and bread. The best was sausages with a sticky onion jam!

I ordered white wine and they brought me a half carafe of their local wine from Etna-delicious!

When we first arrived, they started playing a lively song and the staff all gathered around and sang and danced for a table. Since we don’t speak Italian, we thought it just have been then their birthday. Then it happened again, and again. Then we realised this is the presentation of the meat platter!

The meat platter comes out in two servings. First is a mountain of different local meats-a delicious hamburger, slices of pork belly, a pork cutlet stuffed with breadcrumbs and herbs, and potatoes. All with a delicious grill flavour.

Just when we were full to the brim, a loud song in English starts to be played and out comes our main event a BEAUTIFUL T-bone steak. It was cooked to perfection. The head chef does a little show where he cuts it off the vine and feeds everyone at the table a slice. It’s fun and our 12 & 13 year old loved it too!

The meat was so tender, perfectly salty and had the most delicious char flavour from the the grill.

I was so thankful for the coffee and lemoncello at the end to wash everything down!!

I cannot recommend this place enough. The atmosphere was so fun, all locals having a great time. The food was excellent. We never saw the price, so when the bill came at the end we were pleasantly surprised it was £25 pp....

The place is the epitomy is Sicilian culture. Lively, family-oriented, and full of smiles and celebration. The food is also top notch and you definitely will not go hungry when ordering the set menu. My recommendation, refrain from eating a lot of the bread, as the plates are large and the best part of the experience. Francesco is the one who makes everything so lively here. For the last part of the meal, you can choose a song and he will play it while coming out with your giant t bone steak while it has sparklers all around it, then will proceed to light up a sword and cut the steak perfectly, then feed it from the sword for everyone at the table. If you want a memorable night that will be the highlight of your trip to Sicily, this is THE PLACE. Oh right, and every dish is made to perfection, from presentation to taste, it's everything I could hope for. Oh and did I mention, all you can drink wine, soda, water, etc. included in the price? Please don't skip this restaurant when you're in Sicily, just the drive alone is worth the trip (stop by Gole Alcantara Parco on the way for even more incredible sights in the area). Scrivo questa recensione più per fornire un feedback ai proprietari che non per recensire l'attività che ci ha comunque fornito cibo di qualità. In data 11 ottobre alle 11 di mattina chiamo il locale per prenotare per il sabato 25 ottobre a pranzo. Mi risponde una giovane voce femminile che mi dice che non c'è posto nonostante la mia insistenza; la cosa mi è suonata piuttosto strana e poiché passo spesso da Francavilla per lavoro mi sono fermato per vedere se era possibile prenotare di persona. Ho parlato con una signora addetta alla macelleria, gentilissima e cortese, che mi ha prenotato senza problemi per la data prescelta; non capisco pertanto quali possano essere state le motivazioni per la giovane ragazza che mi ha risposto negando la prenotazione al telefono nonostante le reiterate richieste. Nella data in questione ci siamo recati alla braceria che non era nemmeno pienissima come altre volte. Avevo alcuni amici ospiti e dopo il classico menù abbiamo voluto ordinare delle portate diverse per il secondo, specificandolo alla Maitre che prendeva l’ordine. Tutte le costate con osso che portano in grande pompa magna sono crude all’interno e nessuno di noi voleva mangiare carne cruda o al sangue, pertanto sono andato in macelleria ad ordinare delle tagliate di trinca ben cotta, specificando più di una volta di non volere la costata che rimaneva cruda e che tra l’altro loro fanno pagare 10€ in più del costo del menù. Non c’era la signora che c’è di solito ma parlo con un ragazzo che era anche in sala e che fa finta di poter soddisfare il mio ordine. Al tavolo invece, arriva la cameriera giovane e ci porta la grigliata mista che rimandiamo indietro. Avviso la Maitre bionda con cui avevamo ordinato che riporta indietro la grigliata. Dopo dieci minuti ci arriva una costata senz’osso tagliata e cruda (tipo di carne che se viene cotta non è più morbida). Rimando indietro il piatto e poco dopo ci riportano la stessa carne ma più cotta e pertanto stopposa e poco gustosa ma travestita da tagliata con a parte il parmigiano e la rucola. Poco dopo arriva anche (con annesso show al seguito) un’altra costata senz’osso cotta al grado rosa interno quindi un po’ più mangiabile anche se pretendevano che pure quella fosse una tagliata di trinca. Vado a pagare il conto. Prima pago senza fiatare 240€, 60€ in più del normale e dopo faccio le mie rimostranze alla signora bionda che aveva preso l’ordine. Si scopre che il ragazzo in questione aveva tranquillamente pensato di mettermi in conto le costate perché contava sul fatto che non mi sarei accorto della differenza, trattando da stupidi i clienti del locale. Saltiamo dolce ed amari e ce ne andiamo a prendere il dolce nella pasticceria di fronte. Di passaggio al ritorno, la Maitre ha almeno avuto la decenza di regalarci una bottiglia di vino (di pochi euro) con la loro etichetta per indorare la pillola di aver pagato 60€ in più per piatti che non avevamo ordinato.
