Food was alright, service was nothing short of an assault! portions were tiny so in case you don’t want to leave hungry, you should order antipasto, primo, secondo, insalata, dolce etc. and even then… The quality of the ingredients was good, but the dishes lacked imagination and for the price tag delivered an underwhelming experience. But the worst part at this restaurant is not the food, it was our waitress who from the very beginning of our stay was extremely rude and aggressive: when we asked for some olive oil to go with the salad we ordered, she told us that the olive oil is not included and that if they had to offer all customers complementary olive oil that would be madness!!! We were shocked by her attitude and in disbelief that in the land of olive oil, a restaurant would refuse to serve it to their customers. Later on the same waitress nearly injured my partner as she angrily snatched the credit card terminal out of his hands b/c she thought he was doing something wrong, which he wasn’t.
Frankly, we were shocked by her behavior- it was so “in-your-face-rude” and plain aggressive that it was hard to believe; needless to say, we have never before experienced anything like this anywhere else in the world. Her bad attitude towards us continued throughout dinner, made us feel very uncomfortable and unfortunately spoiled our evening. We don’t usually complain, but in this case we had to do so, but unfortunately our complaint fell on deaf ears and the waitress’ actions were defended, stating “tonight is a busy night”. I don’t recommend this restaurant and will never...
Read moreWe dined twice at Malborghetto during our short stay at the charming little village of Lecchi. We were thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food, the attentive service and the atmosphere. The restaurant has a lovely setting with nice touches, blankets were provided during a cool rainy evening. The menu is uncomplicated with English translation, the food was fresh, delicate and delicious. The stuffed porcini mushroom with egg and shaved truffle was heavenly, so was the tomato soup, pumpkin soup and the home made gnudi. I had excellent wine by the glass(even though there was only one choice, they were different on the two nights we visited) Chef Simon noticed AND inquired about my unfinished food left on the plate (the sausage was salty for my taste) and took it off from our bill, an indication of his generosity and dedication to his diners. During my early morning walks in the village I saw the chef doing his prep work in the kitchen. He and his wife work as maître’d, sommelier, waiter/waitress, busboy/girl, yet they were able to provide a smooth, un-rushed, warm and friendly service while not neglect the quality of their food. Their dedication and hard work did not skip our notice. We hope to...
Read moreAwful experience… upon arriving we were left waiting for a table for almost 10 minutes and then after having a sit, they kept us waiting even more minutes ~ 20 before taking the drinks order and even more for the food order. I was so mad I wanted to just leave…. However, they brought the food really fast- it must have been already cooked idk. The portions are very small, luckily we weren’t that hungry. The staff was so unfriendly and cold…
Total disappointment!
UPDATE as a result of what you wrote: the blonde lady serving us was very unfriendly and arrogant. And the 20 minutes were the waiting time for the DRINKS only. The food was brought pretty fast (like 5 minutes tops) which to be honest seemed a bit suspicious. We really would have appreciated a bit of decency from your part with perhaps an acknowledgement that you had a bad day or something. But from the way you have written your answer, it reenforces my...
