We crossed the Alps through the St Bernard tunnel to have lunch at Edi's this first Friday of May 2024. It was snowing lightly when we stopped at the old ski lift station/restaurant on the Swiss side of the tunnel for some urbex photoshoot but once down at the restaurant, temperature had risen to 16 degrees and we were warmly greeted by Edi and his kind and efficient staff. Pasta with black truffles and duck were on our plates, served with a local red and followed by panna cotta with blueberries. Unfortunately, they had still not opened the terrace from which you have a wonderful view southwards over the snowcapped mountains north of Torino. The place is popular with people from the cantons of Wallis and Vaud so book your table to be able to enjoy the company of the owner both in person and on the artwork decorating the walls. Highly...

In Gignod AO, above a small grocery store named Gabriela there’s a restaurant that I was looking for to have lunch and an espresso. I didn’t get to do any of that because I was turned away. I was told I needed a reservation even though the group before me and the one after me didn’t have a reservation. Maybe he didn’t care for the way I looked and that I was carrying a backpack since I am walking the Via Francigena. Although I was disappointed I am glad it happened. A local gentleman took me to a restaurant called La Maison De Pierre, very close to the previous restaurant. The people at the La Maison De Pierre were very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and I got my credentials stamped. I still believe in less hate and more love and to be kind. Therefore to the person who turned me away I hope he finds some joy. Just a...

Prezzo pattuito 25€ a testa.

Didier

Great place to discover local cuisine and wines. Go for the discovery menu and you'll get a broad overview of the best from the Aosta region. The host Eddy is really friendly and will make you feel like home. To be recommanded!
