Ristorante Pizzeria da Giovanni — Restaurant in Gorlago

We happened upon this restaurant just driving around looking for somewhere to eat. What luck. No sooner had we entered when we were greeted very warmly and invited to a table. The staff were so polite as I attempted my loose grip on the language, urging me on and putting me at ease. This in a way that has NEVER occurred in France where they always seem so impatient when you try to make an effort. One of the reasons we have so fallen in love with Italy. The staff were great ambassadors for their country and culture. We ordered a couple of pizzas and they were by some measure a couple of the best we have had and we’ve had quite a few.

If you’re in the area, I’d well recommend you seek it...

We found this place by coincidence on our way to the Bergamo airport. Wow! The fish dishes are just amazing. We had raw fish as a starter, then risotto with mushroom and finally different types of fish as main course. I had sword fish and it was perfectly cooked (not over cooked whish is pretty common). My son had veal and it was also great. This restaurant knows how to get the right ingredients and how to treat them! When you’re done you have approx 15-20 mins to the airport if you are...

Dopo una serie di delusioni interminabili, tra arancini che somigliavano più a sassi e spaghetti alle vongole che non avevano vongole e sapevano di pesto, finalmente siamo arrivato in questo ristorante pizzeria. Abbiamo preso sia pesce che pizze. Io ho ordinato degli spaghetti alle vongole. Non appena il cameriere me li ha posati sul tavolo, immediatamente il sistema olfattivo è stato scosso da un profumo che non viene da questa terra. Infatti viene dal mare.... Buonissimi, niente da dire qualità pesce e pomodori divini. Poi, sotto una gentile concessione di un mio compatriota (siamo del Nord) ho avuto il piacere di assaggiare una fetta di una pizza che probabilmente è stata concepita e creata da Maradona in persona durante un sogno mistico. Pizza con burrata, pomodori gialli e rossi e pesto al pistacchio. Ancora una volta, le mie abitudini culinarie sono state stravolte. Un'armonia di sapori che hanno suonato le mie papille gustative. Unica pecca, un po' il caldo e la mancanza di un impianto di raffreddamento degno. Ma non importa. Ah, il proprietario Giovanni deve essere una specie di veggente. È arrivato al tavolo durante il consumo delle sue pietanze affermando con ferma convinzione che era tutto buono, che gli ingredienti erano di qualità. Insomma si è auto recensito... Però, non ho potuto assolutamente contraddirlo. Non me la sono proprio sentita... Non ci tornerò mai più perché si trova su quest'isola. Ma se dovessi avere la fortuna di tornare qua, andrò ancora...
