This place represents very well what happened to Chianti and more broadly to many parts of italy in recent years with foreigners and investors buying up old farms to cater to tourists. This place in particular was the old house of Sardinian shepherds since a few years ago. It was then bought and transformed into a bar and restaurant, quite average in my opinion, perfect for generic tourists but wouldn’t recommend for travelers looking for authentic places with history. We did some wine and grappa (yowsa!) tasting. Boxes are available to purchase 1 or 3 bottles for safe packing in return luggage. (I can verify they safely transported wine to the US.) A free lot is available for stress-free parking. I super appreciated the cushioned bench seating for my sensitive back. But Poggio al Sole e-mailed us back quickly to offer their Locanda location and we were not disappointed. The staff were so kind and knowledgeable, the wine was delicious, and the views were unmatched of the rolling tuscan hills.
