Occasionally one finds a small unassuming restaurant and is delighted. Last night at Ristorante La Vecchia Cucina in Marcellano (on an unassuming side street) was one of those times. It was delightful, warm, friendly and the service was great.
We had: as a free appetiser a sort of barley and mixed vegetable compote. Unusual but very good. Pecorino, honey, walnuts lightly melted. Absolutely superb. A enormous plate of mixed salumi. Strongozzi cacio e pepe, which was excellent and seemed to have a slight twist: egg yolk? Tagliata with rosemary and coarse salt A delicious Montefalco rosso

Read moreThis was the best meal we had in the area. The truffle pasta was out of this world, and the other two pastas were close behind. We also tried the rosemary garlic steak and truffle steak which were both cooked perfectly with the beautiful fresh taste of rosemary.

We had the goose tagliatelle and the fava and guanciale strangozzi. Both were excellent. Wonderful sauces with bread for dipping afterwards.
Excellent little place well worth a visit for lunch or dinner.
