Mandarin — Restaurant in L'Aquila

My partner and I walked in to be greeted with a minutes long, wordless glare from our waitress. After a period of awkward silence, we asked for a table for two and were reluctantly seated. When we told the waitress we didn’t speak Italian she angrily stormed off and then returned, throwing English menus at us. We managed to successfully place our orders and then proceeded to wait in the wretched ambience of hostility. I was then given the worst fried “wontons” I’ve ever had the audacity to be served in my entire life. They were large, flat, and had an almost nonexistent amount of filling. The soups were quite mediocre. Mine and my partner’s “meals” were paltry side dishes, mine being dry as a bone and his soggy and drenched in sauce. Both of which likely came from a microwavable dinner. I now feel compelled to move to L’aquila and open an actually potable Chinese restaurant to save the poor citizens that let this dumpster fire fester for the past 22 years. Detroit Chinese...

Ordered a takeaway very recently, the server was kind and shy and offered an English menu to choose from, which was a nice gesture. I ordered the steamed dumplings, fried rice with vegetables, and lemon chicken. The lemon chicken survived the journey home (risky with this dish) and overall the food was excellent. Portions and taste were solid Chinese takeout fare, especially with the low price point (most dishes around 4 - 6 euro). Really takes me back to Chinese food in the UK.

CIBO OTTIMO MA PESSIMO NEGLI ORARI DI PUNTA!!!

Frequentiamo spesso questo ristorante perché il cibo è molto buono, ed è l’unico ristorante cinese della zona. Purtroppo, però, l’esperienza cambia drasticamente a seconda dell’orario.

Stasera siamo arrivati alle 20,45, e ora, che sono quasi le 22, stiamo ancora aspettando alcuni piatti. Il ristorante è pieno e chiude alle 23, quindi è evidente che non riescono a gestire l’afflusso di clienti.

Un altro problema è la gestione delle ordinazioni. Mio marito è vegano e io no, ma hanno portato solo il mio piatto con il pollo, mentre il suo ancora non si vede. Risultato? Io mangio da sola per evitare che si raffreddi, e lui aspetta chissà quanto tempo per il suo cibo. Lo stesso è successo con il riso, dopo quasi un’ora di attesa, ci hanno portato quello sbagliato, e abbiamo dovuto aspettare ancora per quello corretto.

Il cibo merita, ma il servizio è un disastro negli orari di punta. Se volete venire, fatelo presto (pranzo 12 o cena intorno alle 19), altrimenti preparatevi a lunghe attese e a...
