Mecojoni pizzeria Romana — Restaurant in L'Aquila

We were staying nearby and walked by a few times, noticing a full restaurant most nights, so we had to try it. After a long day touring Gran Sasso, we arrived for our pizza extravaganza. We started with a gigantic appetizer that has already satisfied the table by the time the pizzas came out. The menu is organized by red vs white pizza, which made it easy to order. Our waitress was kind and accommodating and even though we arrived late, we were never rushed at any point. Also, their house red was some of the best wine I had during my entire trip. Definitely go and make a reservation so you can sit...

Excellent. Not only do they have an amazing story to learn about for where they took their name for the pizzeria for, but also are the pizzas mind-blowing good: make no mistake, this is a Pizza Romana with ultra-thin dough .. crunchy, not soft. Choose from different options for the toppings, all of them fresh and from local farmers; and, decide if you like it ‘red’ (with tomato sauce) or ‘white’ (without sauce). Being a big group, we tried several of the pizzas and were blown away .. mama mia, che buono!! Service was great, people are super friendly....

Siamo venuti il 19 febbraio scorso con il desiderio di assaggiare la vostra pizza, come ci avevano consigliato alcuni amici qualche tempo fa. Non appena ci siamo seduti a tavola, peraltro molto stretti, è arrivato il cameriere dicendo con voce ferma e perentoria, sul perché non avevamo letto la bacheca, posizionata dopo l’ingresso del locale, dove erano riportate tre pizze fuori menù… Già qui la “luna” consigliava di rivedere la prenotazione. Ma a quel punto sarebbe stato già un problema rialzarci… Tuttavia ci siamo avvalsi delle pizze presenti nel menù cartaceo, cosicché abbiamo effettuato le rispettive ordinazioni. Dopo un po’ di attesa sono arrivate le prime due pizze, passati dieci minuti altre due, e così via fino all’ottava pizza che è arrivata dopo mezz’ora dalla prima. Che dire: ognuno ha consumato il pasto mentre gli altri stavano a guardare. Tralascio altri commenti coloriti, da parte del cameriere, durante la nostra permanenza nel locale, fino a quando siamo “approdati” al dolce, dove il predetto ha esternato tutta la sua smagliante dialettica. Alla richiesta di un commensale di preferire dei “tozzetti secchi” al posto dei gelati proposti, il cameriere ha risposto, sempre con voce, questa volta, stizzata: “quelli sono in vendita nei supermercati”. Dulcis in fundo: nel momento in cui si è trattato di chiedere il conto, il “gentile” cameriere, lo ha riportato direttamente diviso per otto, pensando di fare cosa gradita, ma in realtà alcuni amici...
