Vulìa — Restaurant in L'Aquila

If you're passing through Assergi (which you should; medieval hamlet, Gran Sasso, fresh mountain springs, breath-taking views) stop for lunch or dinner at Vulia. I recommend their pasta dishes, all of them. Their pastas are home made and to die for. The place is run by a brother/sister team and an English-speaking nephew with impeccable manners. Their antipasti and "secondi" (main dishes) are also very good. The price point is acceptable. The wine is local and more than acceptable. For a tourist or a local, this restaurant is essential. It isn't large, which means you shouldn't be late, but the owner will immediately make you feel at home. He is personal and welcoming and the atmosphere is the most modern you will find in this pocket of the Gran Sasso park area.
