We were three 40 something girls on a 4 night ski weekend. We were welcomed at reception with smiles but very little English, a phrase book and lots of sign language got us through the weekend. Our room was spacious and clean with a king size and a single in it and the bathroom felt fresh and new. There was more than enough space for us to spread our hairdryers! It also has a mini bar.||The hotel is in a remote area with no other amenities around it with the restaurant being in a separate building 5mins walk from the hotel. The walk adds to the hunger on the way there and is great for the digestion on the way back!||Breakfast served in the hotel, was typically continental, the highlight being thick liquid chocolate to which you added hot milk, but which one of our number had poured over her muesli! The evening meal was generous and filling. We stayed on a half board option and had to make our selection of set evening meal at breakfast. This consisted of a choice of 4 pasta/rice dishes, then 4 main courses, one being a basic vegi option, (potatoes with cheese for example), with a choice of 3 accompaniments (salad, chips and a vegetable). There was bread and an appetiser at the table and the desserts were selected in the evening, there was usually a choice of at least 4. ||There is a bar area in the restaurant but this feels a little like the owners lounge with a TV and children, so our one disappointment was that there was no real bar area within the hotel to go to after the meal. There are a couple of soft seats right by the small reception, which also acts as the bar, and some sofas in the breakfast room, which is large and brilliantly lit, neither of these have a bar like ambiance. Because of this we spent each evening in our room after dinner.||The hotel is located 3km from La Thuile, directions to it are signposted from the resort. We were planning on taking the shuttle bus but the pick up was at 08.30 with the next one being at approx 11.40, so we drove. We parked in a free car park a short walk from the gondola and had no trouble getting a space each morning. We hired lockers through our ski hire shop at a cost of 5 Euros p.p., these were located in the basement of the...
Read moreWe booked this hotel as an overnight stop on our way down to Italy. We were the only guests to begin with but by the end of the day, 3 other couples had arrived. The service was excellent given the small number. They have secure parking on site which is free. Free wifi which was excellent. The room was large but very small TV. There was a fridge with minibar. Bathroom was also large. If you have stayed in a ski hotel before, you will be used to the decor and facilities. Very clean. They also own the restaurant which was a short walk across a meadow, or via the road. Menu choice was excellent. It appears to be run by a husband and wife team, so very friendly atmosphere. Breakfast was usual continental fayre, but not great selection in terms of pastries. Congenial host and we tried to have conversations, but his English was limited. Better than our French, which is also limited ! Check in and check out very good. I think this hotel would look quite spectacular when there is snow...
Read moreGreat location if you have a car and don’t want to be in the centre of La Thuile for skiing.
There’s a free car park in the town just up from mobile home park about a 400 metre walk to the main lift. Brilliant for warming up and warming down around the ski day.
Breakfast in the mornings is perfectly adequate and very traditional, amazing croissants and traditional cheese & meat options. Lovely coffee from Claudio’s machine.
The evening meal is served from in the restaurant 100 metres away. A simple walk and one you’re grateful for if you’ve managed to eat all that’s put before you. The food is traditional. Don’t expect burger & chips.
The hotel is very spacious and a refreshing alternative to the super modern uber cool places I’ve never aspired to staying in.
The rooms are cleaned and the beds made daily. And I’m sure we had fresh sheets and towels half way through the week.
We got a half board week for less than the booking dot com B&B price by booking directly with Claudio via...
