This place was very disappointing. Went here with my wife for dinner. The service wasn’t too friendly and ordering something vegetarian for my wife wasn’t very easy as well. At the end we finally managed to get something vegetarian. The tagliata I had was not medium as ordered I told it to the waiter he took the tagliata came back after 5 minutes but still the meat was rare and not medium. The worst tagliataI ever ate. As well I wanted to order some potatoes as side dish and which only seemed possible after I told the waiter he can of course ad the potatoes...

Il Borgo San Giovanni è da anni un mio punto di riferimento sul Lago Maggiore, e mi sorprende non averne scritto una recensione prima d’ora. Frequento questo ristorante da tempo e non ho mai vissuto una singola delusione: ogni dettaglio è curato con attenzione e l’atmosfera, intima e rilassata, rende ogni esperienza speciale.

La cucina è straordinaria e, pur variando il menù nel tempo, il locale mantiene alcuni grandi classici che sono veri e propri simboli della sua identità che tutti dovrebbero provare. Tra questi, il paté fatto in casa – il migliore che abbia mai assaggiato – e le pappardelle fresche con gamberi e guanciale.

Durante la mia ultima visita, ho iniziato con un eccellente baccalà mantecato servito con crema al pistacchio: un abbinamento audace, grazie alla dolcezza della crema, che regalava al piatto un contrasto intrigante. Come secondo, ho scelto la cotoletta alla milanese con osso, preparata con vitello e impanata alla perfezione, croccante e dorata proprio come nelle migliori trattorie di Milano.

Anche i dolci meritano una menzione speciale. Per chi fatica a scegliere, la degustazione è un’ottima soluzione, ma il dessert che mi ha davvero colpito è stata la panna cotta allo zafferano con crema di caramello salato: un equilibrio perfetto tra dolcezza e intensità, difficile da descrivere a parole.

La carta dei vini è ampia e ben selezionata, con etichette di grande qualità.

Il servizio è sempre impeccabile: veloce, attento e accogliente. Qui ci si sente davvero a casa.
