Ristorante Victor — Restaurant in Letojanni

As a Sicilian, I leave this review with a heavy heart. Food was OK, not great, not terrible, service was good - with lovely, fun, hardworking professionals. Unfortunately we felt treated as ‘tourists who can be ripped off’, which is a very uneasy feeling. We were not given a menu and were taken an order verbally; OK. There was a menu by the door and we got an idea of the costs of what we were ordering. When we ordered a second bottle of wine, we asked what the cost was and we were told 25€. When we asked for the bill we were told 80€ each for 3 starters, 2 mains (lobster linguine) and 1 dessert - and 2 bottles of wine. It felt pricey, because we had checked the prices before. When we asked to pay by card, we were given a discount to 75€ each (?!) We then asked for a breakdown - as we hadn’t received a bill - and it barely added up to the “discounted” total, including the wine priced at 30€ per bottle (even though we were previously told it was 25€). We were superficial, we are on holiday, we can afford it. Yet, we were disappointed and wouldn’t recommend the place for this reason. Which is a shame, because we are Sicilian, Letojanni is pretty and we had fun. But no tourist should be ripped off for the sake of it! Please...

Average at best, I gave two starts because staff inside try, not too hard but they try. Our experience was bad, both people in the restaurant didn’t speak English so that was difficult. We were asked if we want to sit outside or inside, because we were very hot we hoped for nicely air conditioned space inside, but we were led to the garden at the back, which would not be too bad if it wasn’t for a fact that it was horribly humid, there was music playing from the stereo system which was nice, however garden is also where the entrance to the kitchen is and people in the kitchen played their own music, this coupled with very musky and fishy odour from kitchen area made for very uncomfortable time. We nearly left before ordering. Waiter rushed to take our order and food was brought to us very quickly. My wife had pasta and I had grilled prawns. Pasta was average at best and was not eaten whole as it was sub standard, my prawns were average at best but not cleaned properly and with intestinal tract which is impossible to remove without ability to wash them. This was not a nice experience. We could not wait to get out of there. Not exactly dinner we...

The food was nice, but the service was lacking and quite frankly rude. I was the only person in my friend group speaking Italian, and when my friend tried to order, she was ignored by the staff, who refused to speak to her and was addressing only me in response.

Apart from this, we were waiting very long to have our order taken and we couldn't sit outside on the terrace on the premise that everything was reserved (it was not).

I recommend visiting this restaurant only if you want to set yourself up for a mediocre evening. There are many more nicer places with friendly service...
