This is a bit of a difficult review to write… Five years ago, we came to Lezzeno and stayed in an Airbnb loved area thus returning, and had two dinners here, had a wonderful time / experience and service…. This trip/time returning to stay here for 4 nights ( as a minimum stay is three nights), we wanted to get the full ‘crotto del misto’ experience… I cannot complain about the room, a fantastic view on 2nd floor overlooking lake and probably one of the best toilet views in the world overlooking Lake Como…. The shower a little slow to get hot water though. We ate in the restaurant once this time, the food as I remembered good, although the service a little bit slow… Continental breakfast good ( nothing cooked/hot ) coffee machine broken so they were getting elsewhere our cappuccino’s… I guess the disappointing thing about our stay was if you have a good time at the/a destination the first time possibly the second time it is less climatic, which was the case for us here here….. It was the end of there season and that weekend they were closing the hotel, & restaurant end of October apparently. They shut the hotel for six months similar to Greek islands, (they appear to run the hotel open for six months and closed for six months)… the staff seemed tired and lethargic, & the atmosphere we felt as well… The hotel only had three rooms occupied whilst we were on our visit , room next door to us was a family first night and they were quite noisy, screaming children… The last night the Bay next door had a barge which was doing work on the beach or something and woke us at 6:30-7am in the morning…. So, although whilst It was a bit anticlimactic, they weren’t any major issues with the room or stay just appeared that the staff were exhausted after possibly busy season being after Covid….. Not to mention the hotel/staff here, but everywhere we went in Lake Como…. There were still loads of tourists around, and the hospitality staff and infrastructure appeared not be to be able to cope… so assuming that we weren’t the only disappointed tourists in the area…...
Read moreThis is the most enchanting Bread and Breakfast we’ve had the pleasure of experiencing. Quiet and serene. Quaint and peaceful. Natural and mystical. It feels like you’re in an Italian movie. We even sampled a sip from the natural spring that flows through their courtyard and wine cellar. The immediate waterfront access is a picture perfect view of the lake. Sunrise and sunset is just incomparable. As new photographers, this was a dream come true to wake up to this backdrop. It felt like chicken soup for the soul.
I highly recommend you come here for hard reset. If you feel burnt out of if you feel that life is racing by you–consider chosing Crotto del Misto for a retreat from city life. The property itself is older than our home country of the United States. The location in Lezzeno is an adventure. You’re far from the business of Como town, and 15-20 minutes away from the sea of crowds in Bellagio. The staff and locals are so kind. A huge strategic benefit is that the public bus stop is just steps away from the property. And about a 30 minute walk away is the Lezzeno waterbus stop/pier.
The most unique feature was the wine basement attached the the restaurant and hotel. Touring that space was something we won’t forget. My husband and I greatly enjoyed coffee overlooking the lake every morning and evening. Not to mention the delicious breakfast spread, and romantic restaurant. My husband and I have no regrets of our booking, and would jump again at the next opportunity to stay here. If they offered an adult summer camp, we would plan to travel back here in...
Read moreWe stayed at an AirBnB place right next door to Crotto Del Misto and the owner told us it had good food. We went there twice and never got a chance to sit down. The first time we just wanted coffee and dessert. It was around 11PM and there were still people in the restaurant. We were told the kitchen was closed and we couldn't get anything. We explained we just wanted coffee but he refused. The next day we went around 9pm and was told that we couldn't get coffee because we couldn't sit in the dining area because we weren't hotel guests and we weren't having a meal there. We said fine can we sit at the bar and have coffee and he told us he didn't have a bar. I was looking at the bar. My fiance and I were dressed like any other tourist in the place and feel we didn't nothing to warrant this type of treatment. If the policy is you cant be served unless your a hotel guest or ordering a meal that should be posted somewhere. They could use a little PC training and a business101 course on how NOT to...
