Ristorante Sangre Rojo — Restaurant in Lipari

I will give it a 4 to praise the effort. They try very hard to be exceptional and they are definitely above average. Nice view from a remote peak on the least abused side of the hill. Not many tables, nice ambiance. Amazing terrace facing Salina and the western islands, ideal for sunset. I am surprised nobody mentioned the route in any of the other reviews. We made it there, but it was a bit discomforting to reach the place, having booked a table past sunset time. FYI, we drove up and down Lipari for two weeks in all directions don't scare easily. Good food indeed, perhaps I'd recommend the place for an early dinner in the beginning of summer when dark comes later. I can't say much about the food, as a vegetarian I could only get a parmigiana (unremarkable and almost cold) and a pasta dish with pesto and ricotta. Basically, the same menu I got offered in many other places in town. My hubby liked both his courses: the antipasto rojo aka della casa, most expensive item on the list together with the swordfish (20 € and 25€). We enjoyed the (in a glass) pannacotta with prickly pear jam. A bit less impressed by the cheesecake with pistachio (also in a glass), both desserts were served lukewarm. Perhaps intentionally? A tuly special place. We recently had a magical evening at Sangre Rojo. From the moment of our arrival, Hector looked after us and made my husband’s 60th birthday really special. First we enjoyed delicious Aperitifs and appetisers on the terrace, whilst taking in the sunset and the most amazing view looking out towards Salina, Filicudi, and Alicudi. Then later, inside the restaurant, with it's charming decor, and lovely ambiance we enjoyed the most delicious food and Sicilian wine. Each dish we had was beautifully presented and full of flavour. Hector was attentive, funny and so warm and friendly we felt like we had become friends by the end of the evening. Thank you very much to Hector and the wonderful chef and owner Nunzia, for making my husbands birthday so memorable! It would be lovely...

Partito da Palermo alle 6 del mattino e dopo aver fatto una giornata piena di mare io ( da bravo manciataro ) mi sono fatto una bella lista di posti dove andare a mangiare pesce con la mia compagna. La scelta come prima serata è ricaduta su questo ristorante, quindi dopo la classica doccetta post mare al B&b abbiamo preso il “bolide” affittato per questi 5 giorni Liparesi e ci siamo incamminati, unica pecca non aver valutato che il ristorante si trovi a poco più di 400 mt di altezza sul livello del mare, perchè non ci siamo portati nemmeno una giacca ( cosa che consiglio a chi va con il motorino ), arrivati li siamo stati accolti dal personale che è sempre stato gentile e accogliente per tutta la serata dall’inizio alla fine e che con naturalezza e simpatia ti fa sentire a casa, perché diciamocelo, ci sono posti dove il locale è bello, il posto altrettanto, cibo e piatti super, ma ti fanno sentire a disagio.. cosa diversa al Sangre Rojo!!! Io e la mia compagna scegliamo due calici di vino bianco e optiamo io per il filetto di tonno scottato su caponata rivisitata, un esplosione di sapori e di consistenze in bocca e si vede che il cuoco sa ampiamente fare il suo, lei involtini di pesce spada accompagnate da verdure grigliate, sbagliare degli involtini è difficile ma farli esaltare con un ripieno così lo è, davvero complimenti!! Per me non c è cena che non debba finire con il dolce, qui non avendo più il menù chiedo ad una cameriera ( Giulia ) che poi scopro essere la figlia della proprietaria e che il ristorante è a conduzione familiare, nell’ elencare i dolci rimango colpito dal tortino al pistacchio ( che io amo alla follia ) e dal tiramisù ( del quale ne vado pazzo ) su questo voglio fare un appunto perché essendone amante sono abbastanza esigente, Giulia la prende come sfida personale e mi assicura che è a regola d’arte proprio perché è lei che cura i dettagli sui dolci, presa come “sfida” li prendo entrambi, arrivati i dolci in entrambi i casi erano fatti davvero bene, tanto che sono volati e non ho potuto fare le foto, ovviamente i complimenti vanno a Giulia perché si vede che mette passione in quello che fa. La fine della cena si è conclusa con un bicchierino di Malvasia gentilmente offerto. Faccio i miei complimenti perché queste sono le realtà che devono andare avanti e non è mai semplice e scontato trovare persone così semplici, umili e simpatiche e posti dove si possa mangiare...
