Tucked away on Sardinia’s northern coast the charming village of Porto Rafael is placed — where the small piazzetta meets the crystal-clear sea and time seems to slow down. In the heart of this peaceful place we discovered Solaz Restaurant, and it became one of our favorite spots during our stay.
The restaurant is tastefully and colorfully decorated, creating a vibrant yet relaxing atmosphere where you immediately feel comfortable and welcome. We enjoyed light, fresh salads for lunch (the one called "Waldorf" was my absolutely fav) — perfect for the warm Sardinian summer days. Their homemade ice cream is absolutely delicious and a must-try in the afternoon.
In the evening, the à la carte menu offered a great selection of Mediterranean dishes — everything we tried was perfectly balanced, full of flavor, and beautifully presented.
The service was friendly and attentive. When we had a slightly wobbly table, two staff members immediately fixed it with great care — small details that make you feel truly looked after.
We will definitely come back and highly recommend Solaz to anyone visiting Porto Rafael. You can enjoy a wonderful culinary experience in a...
Read moreWe came to have dinner after having our aperitivo right next door (which we assumed was the same restaurant more or less). We were told to wait to be seated because of their “super busy night” and after inquiring once more, they sat us, but made it feel as though it was a chore because of how “busy” they were. We then proceeded to watch the restaurant not even fill up halfway the entire night we were there.
The waiters were all phenomenal and the food was okay, best part of dining was the gelato and tea we ordered.
I just left on a super sour note since it seemed like the host wanted to sell this “aloofness” of the restaurant and how exclusive they were when they were just another beach restaurant like the rest. I didn’t appreciate the arrogance and I...
