Grelia (Picciorana) — Restaurant in Lucca

A lovely bar/cafe/gelateria only 5 minutes east of the walls of Lucca. We had a delicious lunch of roast beef, potatoes and veggies, served alfresco in the beautiful covered patio at the back of the property. The pastries are really special as well - everything you could want including specialty cakes made to order. They also have a great selection of wines from Tuscany. We really enjoyed our visit to Grelia. We stopped in for a late lunch, we all had pasta with bolognese sauce. (Offered to us but not on the menu). It was amazing, pasta was cooked to perfection and great flavour to the Bolognese. We sat across from the Gelato display so we had to have some for dessert. All the choices that we had were really good. We were served by Luca and he was amazing.

We enjoyed our meal so much that we returned the next day for some pasta with a Pomodoro sauce. Of course we finished off with some more Gelato. Both days meals were excellent.

What a gem in the country side of Lucca, specially for vegans and vegetarians. We ordered aperitifs with delicious smoothies of fruits or vegetables. Then came the board of finger tips.
