Tambellini dal 1870 — Restaurant in Lucca

6 of us had dinner last Friday, 25 July. Unfortunately, right from our arrival the owner's attitude came across as supercilious and arrogant, creating the distinct impression that we were imposing on his evening, despite our having booked our table days in advance. The wait between our starter and main courses was excessive, and even when the main courses did belatedly arrive, one of our party was offered, in succession, 3 dishes which had not been ordered and ultimately resulting in his canceling his main course order so that the remaining 5 members could eat without having to wait for his dish to arrive. At no time was there any acknowledgment by the owner of the error, apology provided or attempt made to rectify the issue.

Our entire party opted to skip dessert because the evening's ambience had been tarnished by the owner's tone-deaf approach throughout the evening.

The food and setting were actually fine, making the owner's contemptuous approach all the more disappointing.

I've never written a restaurant review before but feel compelled to in this case given how badly we were treated - such a shame, but here's hoping this review helps to improve the service for other guests...

what a fabulous place,from the outside looks ordinary but inside and into the rear courtyard is lovely. the food and wine were great and both reasonably priced.......it should be good though having talked to the 6th generation of the family run business they have had 160 years of practice and have certainly mastered their trade in food wine and hospitality. the only pity was it only opened on a fri and sat evening 😩 but is open during the day most days...... best to ring and book a table just to be certain....

Quando la scortesia e’ di casa. Rientriamo a Lucca da un bel giro in MTB e decidiamo di fermarci a prendere un caffè in questo bar ristorante. Siamo in 3, ed appena entrati notiamo subito di non essere molto graditi, non c’è nessun avventore al banco ed il barista forse proprietario, che chissà perché mi ha ricordato il giornalista D’Agostino, affiancato da una donna, non ci riservano alcun saluto e ci servono con una certa reticenza 3 caffe, 2 paste e 3 bicchieri di acqua. Nemmeno il tempo di consumare che il simpatico gestore si dirige verso la porta di entrata per spalancarla, facendoci capire che il nostro profumo non è proprio così gradevole. Andiamo alla cassa ed il mio amico che si era immolato per chiudere alla svelta questa bellicosa invasione da parte di 3 bikers in un noto locale vippettino alle porte della città, viene freddamente richiamato per aver sbagliato loculo dove versare il vil danaro da parte di 3 idioti che han ben pensato ( quale onta) di fermarsi in codesto luogo. Nessun grazie e arrivederci per finire in bellezza. Avevo da tempo pensato di venire a cena in questo posto, mi piaceva molto e anche se convinto del fatto che non falliranno per questo, sono certo di non metterci più piede in vita mia, per la pace anche del buon gestore che ne sarà sicuramente contento.
