Polenteria La Ramasse — Restaurant in Moncenisio

I came across La Ramasse cycling from the valley up to Mont Cenis, on the back road.

And I’m glad I took this road less travelled because the hospitality, generosity and conversation with Marco, the owner, over a lunch of salumi and cheese, was why I travel and why I travel by bike.

It is worth the detour from the main road if you are in the area. And if you go on weekends it sounds like that not only will you find polenta, you’ll be in the middle of a party of friends, with homemade amaro and music in a friendly and wonderful atmosphere.

This place is a gem of the mountains - a small family restaurant focused on a single local speciality and doing it excellently.

The polenta of course was delicious, the kind that makes you want to eat it without any additions to complicate it, but then the options - tomato sauce, sausage, cheese - are also so good it's impossible to ignore them.

The antipasti and salumi were fantastic, and there's a great selection of wine.

Il locale non è sito più nella precedente struttura. Ambiente diverso, su un unico piano, più ampio, per certi versi più luminoso ma che possiede sempre quel calore umano che ha sempre contraddistinto questo ristorante. Inoltre, a mio parere, si ha modo di interagire maggiormente tra i vari commensali. Ed effettivamente, lo spirito di questo locale, immutato a prescindere dalla nuova posizione, è quello di regalare un momento di festa e aggregazione. Ad aggiungere un tocco chic, l'angolo musicale, rivisitato, ampliato e non più sacrificato. Il cibo lodevole, come sempre. Ottimo, dagli antipasti ai dolci. Il vino, Rosso o Bianco, è sempre molto piacevole. Subito dopo, loro, gli zuccherini, protagonisti della festa finale. Infine, come non fare, ancora una volta, un commento ai proprietari (se mai ce ne fosse bisogno). Sempre pazienti, con un sorriso e con un abbraccio, per chi se lo merita ovviamente, con una battuta che fa sorridere e sciogliere il cuore, a chi la capisce e che procedono con il loro lavoro immane nonostante tutte le difficoltà che immancabilmente i casi della vita (umani e non) si parano davanti.
