A hidden gem in Piedmont!
When I arrived to Le Case della Saracca, my breath was taken away by the amazing historic building in a small fairy-tale-like village surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Langhe, Piedmont. Take a look at my attached photos and you will understand!
A unique address where six medieval houses have been transformed into a labyrinth of grottoes, suspended glass walkways, swirling metallic staircases and bedrooms with floating bed or bathroom carved out of the rock.
Mr. Giulio – the owner and perfect host - has created something exceptional from a 900 year old structure high up in Monforte. All 6 rooms are unique, with a combination of ancient walls, glass floors, modern fittings, basins fashioned from tree trunks, all done with style and flair.
Downstairs, there is a bar and restaurant that is clearly popular with people in town, for good reason! The food put a novel twist on traditional Piedmonts food and was delicious. The waiter managed to match a wine perfectly to each course! Before dinner Mr. Guilio invited me to a tour of his awesome, high tech wine cellar I the cave!
My room (Dormouse -Camera Ghiro) was comfortable and beautifully decorated with a balcony. The minibar is stocked full of non-alcoholic drinks and some chocolates and biscuits, all free of charge!
The breakfast was perfect with coffee, juice, bread, cheese and charcuterie overlooking wine yards from the small balcony
This is a unique place with a relaxed atmosphere, producing a magical ambience. Thanks to Mr. Guilio for one of the most memorable stay I have ever had!
I hope to be back again soon! Highly recommended!
