Osteria Alla Baracca 1915-18 — Restaurant in Monfumo

What a gem of a find. A lovely little restaurant set in the hills and mountains of Monfumo with outside seating and panoramic views. Traditional, local menu using local produce and wines. Beautifully presented and cooked to perfection.

Drinks, including the bottled water were chilled to appropriate temperatures, the water being very chilled and the white wines cool. A good selection, not too many and not too few to choose from.

The staff are friendly, accommodating, and professional in their service. The price for the quality and service was spot on and very reasonable, and I certainly appreciated the complimentary melon celo at the end. Each dish is approximately €15 to €20, so a two course will set you back about €30 per person. Wines are very reasonably priced.

Plenty of parking too, and the road is mostly quiet, so eating outside is very peaceful.

Only two drawbacks. They were short of a couple of dishes, which was disappointing and we chose the yoghurt and fruit for dessert to clean the palette, but it was almost all yoghurt, there being too little fruit. Perhaps a little compot or bran would add texture and flavour and liven up the dish.

Ho letto molte recensioni riguardo questo locale, alcune positive, molto positive altre meno. Beh oggi ho deciso di pranzare qui assieme ad altre due persone e siamo rimasti a dir poco soddisfatti. Abbiamo scelto come antipasti Carpaccio di manzo e l'Insalatina di piovra: abbiamo iniziato alla grande, qualità, freschezza, cura sono balzati agli occhi e alle papille immediatamente! Come primi piatti abbiamo scelto Gnocchi al ragù brasato di manzo e Linguine alle vongole: ciascuno continuando con carne o pesce sulla base dall'antipasto scelto. Ho letto che qualcuno, in altre recensioni si lamentava delle porzioni scarse ma sinceramente di noi tre, tutti mangioni, nessuno ha riscontrato questo, anzi erano delle porzioni che oseremo definire se non abbondanti perlomeno "BELLE PORZIONI". Il nostro secondo? Essendo quesyo locale conosciuto per le carni rosse ci siamo buttati su una meravigliosa costata di sorana veneta da 1.5kg! Anche a tal proposito la carne era semplicemente perfetta, la cottura, la qualità: avevo letto di commenti in cui criticavano la costata eccessivamente grassa (e immagino la lombata da cui sono state tagliate le costate a distanza di un paio giorni fosse la stessa) ma personalmente ho visto appena un filo di grasso che, tirato in parte, non influiva certo sulla quantità di carne da gustarsi. Solo per sfizio finale ci siamo concessi il dolce pur essendo sazi e soddisfatti di tutte le portate e anche quello era strepitoso, e di produzione propria.

Semplicemente un posto da favola, in cui trovare il BUON cibo, la cucina sana, i prodotti freschi e tutti i piatti preparati al momento (che equivale ad attendere un pochino tra una portata e la successiva ma attesa -neanche eccessiva perché ben organizzati- che vale la qualità servita).

Ci tornerò sicuramente e consiglio a tutti coloro che amino la buona cucina, il piatto curato e la freschezza dei prodotti di provare questo locale perché se ne innamoreranno e non ne potranno più...

A wonderful out of the way restaurant with amazing food and breathtaking views. Today was our second time eating here and we are looking forward to going back. Guido and Manuel were awesome hosts, very welcoming and professional. I made reservations online the night before and when we showed up Manuel was already expecting us, remembering our name without having to look it up.
