Ristorante San Michele — Restaurant in Monte Sant'Angelo

Unequivocally the worst food I've ever had in Italy; and I come every year. Our primary undoing was in coming here close to the end of the holiday season; and therefore several of the restaurants we really wanted to go to were all closed. After making repeated trips up and down the streets of the Old Town, we reluctantly ended up here mainly because I was starving, and a tad unwilling to get back in the car and drive down the mountain road to another town. Having been seated close to the toilets in a near empty restaurant, the waiter-proprietor proceeded to say 'no' to nearly every dish I inquired about on the menu. Tagliatelle ai funghi he repeated continuously, so I sort of knew my dining fate was sealed :) Hurriedly, however, my partner and I both proceeded to order two plates of grilled vegetables (at €4 each) thinking "a little zucchini, a little aubergine, a little tomato or mushroom, a decent glug of olive oil, a little salt and pepper, and a grill. What could possibly go wrong?!" Well, we basically received on our table four thin slices of vegetable, very probably grilled (yay?) the day before, stone cold. The tagliatelle, mercifully, was cooked just right (perfectly al dente). But it was then swiftly murdered in cold blood with that thing they called a mushroom sauce. It was disgusting. An 8 year old would have cooked better. Perhaps the principle of "serve whatever and charge whatever because these are tourists that are never coming back" worked back in 1994. If you find yourself here one fine October evening and discover every single restaurant in a ten mile radius closed but this one open, I recommend - highly - that you go to bed hungry. Or eat that cereal bar languishing somewhere in your hand luggage. Forewarned...

The food was really average tending to bad.

Antipasti: Semi sun-dried tomatoes, pickled artichokes and pearl onions, which tasted industrially produced directly raised from a glass from the supermarket. Boring sausage and a semi-dry bruschetta.

Primi: Orichiette with tomato sauce. The sauce tasted like the ready-made from Barilla (not even Mutti) and the parmesan tasted like the powdered version you can get in a bag from the supermarket

Second: Three fairly salsicca and one insalata mista consisting of only Iceberg lettuce and four slices of tomato.

The peach on the fruit platter was rotten at the bottom.

Service from the young maid was poor and she was petty. However, the adult maid was friendly and smiling.

Got a coke and a bottle of water and asked for an extra glass. I was not allowed to have that.

One of the most dull dining experiences I have had in Italy. It is a shame in a country where the standard is...

Sono rimasto profondamente deluso dal mio recente pasto presso il Ristorante San Michele. Purtroppo, le circostanze mi hanno costretto ad usufruire di questo ristorante, in quanto era l'unica opzione disponibile a causa di una convenzione tra il locale e le forze dell'ordine locali.

Appena entrato, ho notato una scarsa attenzione per i dettagli e l'atmosfera in generale sembrava trasmettere un'aria di poca cura. Il personale sembrava svogliato e poco interessato ad offrire un servizio di qualità.

La mia esperienza culinaria è stata la parte più deludente di tutta la serata. Ho ordinato un piatto di carne, che mi è stato presentato con un aspetto poco invitante. Nonostante il mio timore iniziale, ho deciso di assaggiare comunque. Purtroppo, la carne era immangiabile. Era troppo cotta e asciutta, completamente priva di sapore. Ho fatto notare la situazione al cameriere, ma la sua risposta è stata scortese e poco cooperativa.

I primi piatti ordinati dai miei compagni di tavolo non hanno fornito alcun miglioramento all'esperienza culinaria. Le porzioni erano scarse e i sapori erano deludenti. Si poteva chiaramente percepire una mancanza di cura e dedizione nella preparazione dei piatti.

Il servizio complessivo non ha fornito alcun motivo per un eventuale ripensamento. I tempi di attesa erano troppo lunghi e il personale sembrava più interessato a chiacchierare tra di loro piuttosto che a soddisfare le esigenze dei clienti.

In conclusione, la mia pessima esperienza al Ristorante San Michele è stato un vero disastro culinario. La carne immangiabile e i primi deludenti hanno reso impossibile apprezzare il cibo servito in questo locale. Inoltre, la mancanza di attenzione al cliente e la scortesia del personale hanno contribuito a creare un'atmosfera poco accogliente. Non consiglierei assolutamente questo ristorante a nessuno, neanche se si è obbligati a causa di convenzioni con le forze...
