La Paranza — Restaurant in Montecrestese

Wow! From the start this place was excellent. The atmosphere is very intimate and cozy. When walking up we didn’t know if we were at someone’s house or a restaurant! The waitress was a sweet old lady who was very nice and friendly. The food came out reasonably quick with a warm smile! We ordered the fried mix with calamari and prawns and it was excellent! The calamari was so soft but perfectly crunchy and yet it melted in your mouth! The same could be said for the salmon that we ordered as well. The second dish was the grilled platter with a variety of different fishes and prawns all of which tasted very fresh. Last but not least we ordered two different desserts, the pistachio cheesecake and the tartare. The tartare was rich in flavor and paired very well with the vanilla ice cream. Now the pistachio cheesecake was extraordinary but it would be better described as a mousse cake given the texture was very creamy but light. This was really bad.. Fried squid for the kid, served by a guy in old t-shirt, traingspants and socks in flipflops.. we should have known enough.. Ordered the menu for two. Cold platter to start with. Not too bad, nothing special. Then mussels. Smelled really bad, spoiler, did not eat. Next dish, same mussels, rotten shellfish and old, dry, gummy razor fish. Tornando in Ossola ci siamo capitati per caso. L'unico, in una giornata particolare della settimana, aperto. È situato in prossimità dello svincolo della superstrada, dunque facilmente raggiungibile. Dispone di una terrazza accogliente, che però ha pochi tavoli. L'interno è moderno e soprattutto pulito. Lo stesso vale per i servizi igienici. Il pesce, ovviamente, è il pezzo forte. Provato dagli antipasti alle seconde portate. Ha il sapore del pesce non stracongelato. Presentato in maniera decorosa e cucinato con cognizione di causa. Anche le portate di carne erano buone, dunque c'è scelta anche per i non amanti del pescato. Nota da aggiungere è la cortesia del personale.
