Eating at "Il Tiglio" just become second best experience we have ever had in any Michelin Star rated restaurant, world wide. For sure ranking at first place in the Italian scene. The atmosphere at the restaurant is curated in each detail but manage to remain relaxed and does not come across as pompous, which, in our case is appreciated. The service is friendly and authentic, fantastic I would say!

Last but not least, of course, the food... Chef Mazzaroni manages to bring tradition, elegance and purity all together in each plate. You will experience some mind blowing combinations that will make you smile. Yes, the food is so good that uplift the corner of your mouth while eating it. Purtroppo è stato il peggior tasting menu che io e il mio partner abbiamo mai provato. Siamo lieti di aver scelto l’abbinamento vini da 30€ anziché quello da 80€ perché sarebbe stata una grandissima delusione e spreco di soldi. A partire dal servizio, i ragazzi non sapevano ben spiegare i piatti serviti, pochissimi dettagli e pochissima conoscenza della lingua inglese, tanto che il mio partner avrebbe preferito che lo spiegassero in italiano per poi farlo tradurre a me per lui. Gli abbinamenti del vino non erano troppo sbagliati per l’inizio del menu, anche se spesso e volentieri abbiamo dovuto aspettare che portassero l’abbinamento del vino quando avevamo già la portata a tavola, senza parlare del fatto che abbiamo finito con un dessert abbinato al vino rosso con cui stavamo affianco gli ultimi main della carne. Più di una volta i ragazzi hanno provato a prendere via i piatti quando avevamo ancora le posate in mano, mangiando, come se avessero fretta di continuare, così abbiamo chiesto cortesemente di rallentare un po’ il servizio. Gli abbinamenti del cibo erano assolutamente senza senso, senza gusto, alcuni poco salati e altri troppo. Questa voglia estrema di utilizzare le interiora animali senza tenere alcun tipo di tradizionalità (che è la cosa che distingue la nostra cucina e ricerco sempre quando torno a casa dall’estero) era davvero stomachevole. Anche l’uso inappropriato del caviale quando si poteva benissimamente evitare, soprattutto perché non era di buona qualità. All’inizio ero sorpresa dal fatto che un menu di 13 portate costasse meno di 100€, ma l’impiattamento del 90% dei piatti sembrava davvero fatto per prendere in giro, piatti enormi con un boccone al centro. Non ho mai assolutamente avuto nulla contro le piccole porzioni, perché quelle ricche di gusto non possono essere mangiate in grandi quantità (e di ristoranti stellati ne abbiamo provati e ci abbiamo lavorato, quindi sappiamo che le porzioni piccole sono necessarie per non arrivare alla fine del pasto pienissimi da star male), ma queste purtroppo sono state molto deludenti, povere di sapore e non cotte nel modo in cui ci si aspetta in un ristorante con una stella Michelin. A fine cena abbiamo chiesto il conto e dopo aver aspettato 10 minuti ci siamo alzati sperando qualcuno ci venisse incontro, ma nulla, ci siamo diretti verso la porta dove il manager ha finalmente capito e ci ha fatto pagare all’uscita, senza nessun tipo di scuse o cenno di gentilezza. I only write a review for restaurants that are exceptionally wonderful or exceptionally bad. Ristorante Il Tiglio is one of those restaurants that is exceptionally wonderful. Everything is first class. The food, the service and the wine were perfect. We ordered the menu degustazione “Il Ritorno” which is a tasting menu of seven items. The first item consisted of numerous finger food items. There were so many that we lost count, but each one was delicious. Both the food and the presentation were very creative and contained duck, lamb, veal, clams, trout and more.
