I Got FOOD POISONING– One Star

My wife and I stopped in yesterday—our very first day in Sicily—hoping for a simple, satisfying burger. Sadly, the experience went downhill fast.

The Order • Me: Double‑patty cheeseburger on gluten‑free bread, originally medium‑rare (I switched to well‑done a few minutes after ordering). • Wife: Single‑patty cheeseburger on regular bread, requested well‑done.

The kitchen kindly noted my change, and the food arrived about ten minutes later.

What Went Right • Flavor: At first bite, the burgers were genuinely tasty and well‑seasoned. • Temperature: Both arrived hot, and my patty was cooked through as requested.

What Went Wrong Gritty Texture: Several bites felt like chewing sand or tiny kernels—most likely unwashed lettuce or tomato. Nothing ruins a burger faster than that unexpected crunch. “Earthy” Off‑Notes: Now and then the produce actually tasted like dirt. Again, a quick rinse would have fixed this. Aftermath: Roughly four hours later I was violently ill—food poisoning that lasted a full 24 hours (both ends, spare you the details). My pregnant wife was thankfully not sick, suggesting my burger or the gluten‑free bun was the culprit. Either way, it wrecked our first day on the island.

Bottom Line

Good seasoning can’t save a meal tainted by poor food safety. Between the gritty produce and the brutal bout of food poisoning, I have to give this place a hard one star. I hope management tightens up their prep and hygiene; for now, I can’t recommend...

This bar restaurant isn’t very American friendly. Our group of 8 waited over 30 mins when the wait time was quoted as 15 and we had to remind them about us (though we were all standing in plain view) and finally were sat down just to be asked to move for another family. We were sat at a dirty table full of half eaten plates and dirty dishes that WE had to bus out of our way. Then I had to go FIND a waiter to take our order after one waiter came to our table then gave an excuse and left us mid trying to order. FINALLY after tracking a waiter down and asking if WE were the problem we waited another 5 mins and got to order. Making this quite a long ordeal and that’s just to get to order. I’m hoping this is more of a staffing issue but with all the people who came in after but sat before us with the same table requirements and 3 different tables with the table requirements we needed leaving, I think it’s pretty clear we weren’t priority which is disappointing and looks awful on the establishment. What a nice little Irish Pub style Grill. My wife and I loved this place. The food was amazing and huge! I had the bacon burger and my wife had the lasagna. The everything was so fresh its as if it was just made. The burger requires some effort, but it is cooked to perfection. The fries are a bit small, but if you are like me, there won't be any room after the burger. 1/3 pound patty with several strips of thick bacon all for 6€. The lasagna was just like grandma used to make. Four fingers high with pasta made to perfection. If you are a sports fan, this is your place. I noticed atleast 10 large screen Tv's. You won't be disappointed. So, if you are hungry and wasn't quality good at a low price, this place is for you. Our total for a dinner we couldn't finish? 17€...
