Alta Marea — Restaurant in Noto

Only go here if you want to ruin your evening. Staff have zero organisation & the worst food & service we've ever experienced. So much was wrong I dont know where to start: the seafood arancini arrived FROZEN in the middle (3orders of this), then our mains were awful: 1 pasta dish had a mix of undercooked & extremely overcooked pasta in the same plate, the sardine dish was 3 tiny sardines in soggy breadcrumbs drowned in vinegar and the foccaccia had more salt sprinkled on it than the salt pot could hold. The pasta dishes that were correct tasted well below average of what you would expect for a highly priced sicilian restaurant. We waited over an hour to be served the most terrible food ever, then when they forgot the pasta in squid ink they brought out mussles and insisted that we had to eat this instead because they made a mistake in the kitchen. Overpriced, disrespectful when we complained and still charged the full bill without any acknowledgement for everything that was wrong. Yes it has a nice view, but it's not worth the dinner...

Serving dinner took very long (almost 30 minutes). Some 'warm' dishes were served cold. Mixed grilled fish was burned far too black, tasted like burned wood. Fish dish Alta Marena was very salty. We were with 6 people. From all restaurants that we picked in Lido di Noto this was by far the worst one. By far the best Restaurant in Lido di Noto was El Pampero, just 250 meter south of Alta Marena. A pity but I would not recommend Alta Marena. Waste of taste and money. I don’t know what some of these reviews were talking about. My husband and I are no food rubes and have had many incredible dishes all of the world and in Sicily, this measured up. The service was friendly and attentive, the seafood was fresh, and our dishes were fantastic. We had calamari, seafood risotto and Busiate al pistacchio di Bronte. We were not disappointed in any aspect of this meal. Prices were comparable to similar meals in Sicily and the portions were generous. Not to mention it has a beautiful view of the sea.
