Balnearea Beach Otranto — Restaurant in Otranto

Balnearea is a managed portion of a long stretch of beach about 10 minutes by car north of Otranto. By managed I mean that the whole area is filled with loungers and umbrellas (at the time of writing, $20-$35 for 2 loungers + 1 umbrella, depending the area of the beach, who you ask, and your negotiation skills). Also, bar service and private showers / change rooms are available at a cost. You are not obliged to rent any of these facilities and can lie on your own towel on the sand if you can find an available spot near the water. In July/August the beach is crowded like a can of sardines, which is exactly what some people love and others abhor. First of all, I’ll give 5 stars for the restaurant! We had lunch here 2 times, amazing! We had grilled octopus ( the best i’ve ever had), seafood pasta (the sauce was very smooth and nice), seabass and the best Sushi everrr, trust me! We tried 2 sushi platters (30,50 pieces) each time everything was so fresh and tasty, I m literally dreaming about that sushi! You should definetely try this restaurant, even if you don t want to stay at their private beach, just come for the food!

Il posto è bello e con una spiaggia meravigliosa, peccato per l'atteggiamento spocchioso e superficiale del personale, soprattutto del proprietario, sgarbato e presuntuoso. Abbiamo preso due ombrelloni per tutto il giorno, mangiando anche lì a pranzo. Poi abbiamo fatto un aperitivo con del vino e alla semplice domanda se fosse incluso uno stuzzichino ci è stato risposto in modo molto sgarbato. La questione non riguarda né il cibo né il fatto di pretendere chissà che cosa, avremmo pagato quello che c'era da pagare; se niente era incluso va bene, ma sentirsi rispondere in modo sgarbato e scocciato è stato poco professionale. Alla fine sempre con fare spocchioso ci sono stati portati quattro pezzetti di pizza riscaldata, con due pacchetti di patatine, fatte pagare 13€ euro (oltre i 50€ di vino che avevamo preso ovviamente) . Ripeto, anche qui il problema non è stato pagare, nonostante 13€ per 4 pezzetti minuscoli di pizza + i pacchetti di patatine a 4€ l'uno sia esagerato a mio avviso, è che è stato sgradevole sentirsi richiamare alla soglia come se non volessimo pagare, perché mentre stavamo andando a prendere le borse il proprietario ci ha aspettato alla soglia per ricordarvi di pagare il cibo. In ogni caso domandare è lecito e non vedo il motivo di supporre che volessimo scroccare chissà cosa, visto che siamo andate in 4, tutte persone adulte con un lavoro. Inoltre abbiamo sentito diversi clienti lamentarsi e discutere con i proprietari tutto il giorno per il disservizio. I bagni erano sporchi e intasati, un servizio indegno per il fatto di farsi pagare 40€ ad ombrellone. Il posto in generale comunque è un posto da famiglie, la giornata che abbiamo beccato noi era molto caotica e piena di gente, non so se sia sempre così.
