Ristorante Sottoglio — Restaurant in Palazzolo sull'Oglio

We went there straight from the airport, so hungry and in small rush. Fortunately they had a free table for us. Restaurant and place looks very nice, service is very friendly and helpful. Building is splited for a few rooms to eat, menu fit to all requirements. It was our first pizza in Italy in our life, now I am writing this comment after 5 days. My first impression was a large amount of tomato sauce, but I tough, that I can be wrong and I will wait with my opinion. Sauce was tasty and whole pizza was easy to eat. Honestly whole pizza was tasty 😆 So, after 5 days and few visits in restaurants together with childrens (they love pizza), I tried few of them and still is hard to rate this one. I will remember this place for a long, long time. I was lucky enough to visit twice while in town for business. It’s the best kind of restaurant—secluded, comfortable, kind staff, incredible local food. The pizza, for example, is both inventive and traditional in its excellent execution. Gnocchi, carpaccio, tartare, all amazing. The tiramisu—please bury me in the tiramisu. Hopefully I can return some day. Truly exceptional. Filled with people enjoying themselves. Durante questo lunghissimo periodo di restrizioni e clausure forzate, abbiam deciso per una evasione di compleanno nel nascosto Ristorante Sottoglio. Incastonato nel verde, lontano dalla strada principale si giunge in questo locale attraverso un percorso secondario a fianco del sonnacchioso fiume Oglio. In questo periodo il locale si sviluppa oltre un porticato con diversi tendoni nel cortile, a fianco del quale numerose giostrine per bambini aspettano pazientemente di tornare ad essere usate. Una volta accomodati al tavolo purtroppo il rumore dei commensali attorno a noi era tale da rendere difficile anche la più semplice comunicazione, ma questo rimarrà l’unico difetto della nostra esperienza “SOTTOGLIO”. Ho gustato una sfilata di casoncelli straordinari che come undici condannati a morte pronti per il plotone d’esecuzione son caduti, uno ad uno nella mia bocca. La picanha alla brace era semplicemente paradisiaca e la rivisitazione della millefoglie “al bicchiere” deliziosa. Una menzione particolare per il vino: Primula Rossa della Cornasella di Grumello del Monte, intenso con forti connotazioni di frutta rossa ma equilibrato e molto originale al palato.
