Trattoria "da Romeo" — Restaurant in Parma

The real question is "why not 5 stars?". Let's be clear: if you are looking for "nouvelle cuisine", waiters with tie and so on, this is definitely NOT your place. But if you are looking for a cozy, familiar, informal, simple place where to eat simple food... this DEFINITELY your place. Look for "trattoria" in an Italian dictionary and you will find the perfect description of this place. We had something typical from the area (prosciutto di Parma, salame Felino, culatello,..), which came with (very atypical for Parma) "polenta fritta". Nice, though I must say you can find better salumi in Parma. Second course was "osso buco" with peas... Fantastic. We had a still red wine together, a Morellino di Scansano. Esperienza davvero unica , ci ritorneremo anche se dista 120 km da casa mia. Siamo arrivati in camper, alla fine della nostra vacanza in cui il cibo è stata una nota importante. La prenotazione l’ho fatta telefonicamente e una bella voce femminile, non più da ragazzina, mi ha risposto che ci avrebbe aspettati volentieri anche fino alle 21.00. Abbiamo assaggiato i suoi tortelli di erbette: buonissimi ( come dice lei “ affogati nel burro e asciugati nel parmigiano” )e abbondanti ! Poi abbiamo preso la faraona al forno ( morbida e gustosa ) e il suo coniglio alla cacciatora … delizioso !!!! Un bel semifreddo alla crema con amarene e per digerire un liquore( sempre della casa) “ al bargnule’ “ (il bargnolino, fatto con piccole bacche scure che gli danno un colorito simile al succo delle amarene) A quel punto ho chiesto chi avesse cucinato tutte quelle delizie e finalmente ho conosciuto Paola ( 82 anni moglie di Romeo) … e’ andata anche dalla Clerici a far vedere come si fanno i suoi tortelli alle erbette .Una signora che mi è subito entrata nel cuore ♥️ una signora di vecchio stampo , in gamba, coraggiosa e capace !
