25.08.2017 - Lunch with my most precious friend in the world Alex.C. A discovery and a surprise in this Italian village of Perinaldo of the "Ristorante Bar Au Gaggian". In spite of a late arrival the service was up to the start (by a waitress) and at the end (by the barman) in the presence of the boss "benevolent" on the terrace. Two dishes one based on gnocchi the other a chicken salad = nothing to say: perfect! A terrace protected from the sun, which overlooks the valley as far as the eye can see. A magnificent landscape with far off the sea from the tip of the town of Bordighera. The room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. You do not speak Italian, no worries the waitress will speak to you in French. Congratulations to the whole team, it will remain a very good memory for a day of more...
Read moreThe view over the mountains is unique and the personnel is nice, but the food isn't that special. Plenty of North European tourists thinking to be over the moon, maybe, because of the real express made pasta and bread which are ok, but, trust me, the Brandacujun dish (typical old recipe from this area) is quite disappointing. The original recipe wants it to be prepared mostly with stockfish and then fresh smashed potatoes, not the opposite. Freshness and a few high quality ingredients are a must, beginning from the extra olive oil. Aside from a few average 'primi' choice such as gnocchi al pesto di basilico (where you can't really taste it because overwhelmed by rucola and olive tomatoes) or tagliatelle al cinghiale (I didn't have them but it seems they were quite good) you can get only ordinary dishes like grilled meat or sausages with roasted or fried potatoes that you would get...

This little place is the heart and soul of this beautiful mountain village
Everyone comes here and knows each other
The service is good but Italian, meaning if they ask you let's say large or small. If you don't answer or your not sure they will go off and do whatever is standard
No point saying I wanted large as you didn't answer...
Anyway the coffee and beer are good and the hot chocolate is to die for
They have 'pizzas' and foccia ready to go but there is also a restaurant menu. Simple but all very good
But mainly people come here to meet, talk as well as eat and drink and this is what makes this...
