Stayed two nights in July 2012 as part of a trip from Mantua to the lakes. The Agritourismo is on the edge of a tiny village - perhaps 30 houses and on the periphery of the natural park alongside the shores of the local river. ||||Bedrooms are medium size, with a comfy bed, decent aircon, a wardrobe, decent chest of drawers. Fine to put your stuff away and get a decent night's sleep, but you won't spend much time there. Good size bathroom with a powerful shower. ||||Garden in front of house is very roomy with lots of sitting areas round lawns and flowerbeds. There is another lawned area across the lane which has deck-chairs and 'swimming pools' These are round pools of maybe 7m diameter. Good to cool down in but not really for swimming. One has a little volleyball net in the middle which sound naff, but is actually rather fun. ||||And then the food, the food......!!! Two options - either the menu of the day at about €15 or their tasting menu at €32, including wine, where they bring you a platter of starters all made from the family's own produce (ham, honey, cheese, bread) and then a variety of about 4 hot dishes, also home-made from thair own produce. We've travelled in Italy for over 10 years now and this was the best food we've ever had there - against some pretty fierce competion. Wonderful, fresh, delicate, varied. Did I mention that it cost €32, including wine? ||||Its run by two brothers one of whom is in charge of the produce and the other does the cooking. Very friendly and obviously very proud of the quality of their produce and food. ||||We paid €80 per night and thought it...

Read moreBeautiful old building with great character. Reception was very friendly and special mention to Elisa who spoke great English and was super friendly and professional. Bedroom was very nice and nothing to complain about. The dinner was very nice and just a shame it lacked a little atmosphere as there were very few residents. There were a couple of points that in my opinion let the hotel down. Breakfast was mediocre at best with very little choice and a server who certainly couldn’t prepare scrambled eggs. The major let down in our opinion though was the fact that the hotel CHARGES to use the swimming pool. They emphasised that using the pool was “free”but in reality they charge clients who want to sit or use a sunbed. THIS is a silly policy that the hotel should change. Charge a little more for the room if you must but DONT ASK CLIENTS to pay extra. It left a bad taste for us and would certainly stop us from returning. There were a lot of mosquitoes and we moved beds to an area that seemed to attract less mosquitoes. These two beds were under a gazebo frame and almost straight away the young pool attendant came over to ask us to pay an extra €50. 😩 ….. REALLY? at that point we decided to cut short our stay and go elsewhere. We found a lovely hotel that was actually considerably cheaper and guess what???? No extra charges to sit by the pool.
Whoever made this policy needs to think again. It does and WILL put customers off...
