Barkollo ma non mollo — Restaurant in Pietraperzia

Our dinner was really a full disappointment - in short, we waited for 1.5h for not at all overwhelming food.

It already started when we arrived: only pizza or meat available and no other options (honestly, just don’t accept the reservation if you don’t have any food). Meanwhile we waited for 1.5 hours for the food, the table next to us was served their three course menu including pasta and antipasti. Two more tables that came and ordered after us (one of them also a big group) received their food. When we asked why everybody is being served except us, they said because “they have only pizza”. What it really felt like though was that we are not locals. I guess it’s okay to have a slightly longer wait as a bigger group, but then we would have at least wished for some communication or apology. Once the food arrived sequentially, the antipasti was just a disappointment: few slim slices of zucchini and eggplant, cheese of absolutely no taste and a mozzarella (for 6€). No creativity at all. On our recent holiday to Sicily, we stayed just outside Piertraperzia and tried this place for dinner with the kids on the third night. As Brits, we tend to go to eat earlier than locals, so there weren't many there but it got busy and the atmoshphere was lovely. I've seen a couple moaning reviews about waiting times, but again, this isn't a fast food place and it's a great place to sit with fantastic views. When 14 Americans rolled into town and we heard about this good pizza place up high on hill..when we finallly get after 30 min got there..fyi just cause google maps say its shortest route it not always the beat safest or your rental car can't fit in the tiniest of alleys Anyway. This place took us non speaking italian group and took care of us went above and beyond for u.. even hosted a giant 4 course lunch for us when I don't think they r normally open.
