Gelateria Callipo — Restaurant in Pizzo

Overpriced and over-hyped. The gelato is fine but there is better. Their downfall is their signature "Gelapino" , which is essentially their very sad version of a brioche with gelato. The bun itself is deflated and sad looking, not super important IF the taste was there. Unfortunately it tastes fresh out of a plastic bag as if store bought. To top it off for the price of 3.50€ you get one small scoop of ice cream. Any other gelateria of quality for the same price you get a beautiful brioche bun filled to the brim with gelato with a choice of up to 3 flavors. Also their cones sunk but that is my opinion, I prefer a proper waffle cone not wafer. (I have been coming to this region for 10 years and living full time for 3 years and have had my fair share...

Mi spiace ma ho avuto una pessima esperienza presso questo Bar/Ristorante/Gelateria... non si capisce bene cosa sia. Siamo venuti qui tramite il consiglio di un amico che abita non lontano. Ci aveva detto che il posto era un ristorantino e faceva self service. Ha sbagliato probabilmente anche lui a consigliarcelo in questo modo. Si tratta di un negozio di gelato con annesso un bar dove fanno qualche piatto veloce prefatto.

Fin li tutto ok, non abbiamo problemi, ordiniamo e paghiamo in anticipo quello che abbiamo scelto.

Ci accomodiamo all’esterno sotto una tenda con alcuni tavolini e gia li la poca professionalità della cameriera entra in azione borbottando qualcosa perche ci eravamo seduti in un tavolo, alche chiedonse ci fossero problemi e lei mi risponde con aria di sufficienza che i tavoli non si possono spostare... (da notare che ho avvicinato un tavolo di 10 cm perche avendo i bambini piccoli, un tavolo con 2 sedie... non ci stavamo) . Arriva il cibo, mi spiace ma non era buono, non sono riuscito a mangiare l’insalata, l’arancino ne ho mangiato solo meta e il panino era discreto ci siamo alzati e siamo usciti.

Non credo ci ritorneremo, forse si ma nel negozio a fianco a comprare i prodotti Callipo che sono eccezionali, per il resto a partire dalla cameriera, No, brutta...

a wonderful place with tables on the terrace. very friendly staff. very good breakfast with fresh croissants and filling at the discretion of each. different jams, chocolate and creams. I tasted one of the best granitas with almond flavor, very good and the strawberry flavor. we will definitely return to this...
