Trattoria Alla Fontaniva — Restaurant in Polcenigo

What an amazing experience I had at Trattoria Alla Fontaniva a few months ago! Located on the south side of Polcenigo, this beautiful restaurant has plenty of seating for groups of 20+. There is a small pond on the property that swans and ducks swim in. There’s also a playground right adjacent to the outside dining area so you can eat in peace while your kiddos work their pasta off.

Highlights on the menu include their house wine from the Pittars winery close to San Daniele, Pear Sacotini (little pasta sacs of sweet pear and ricotta), lasagne verdure(veggie lasagna), and their mixed grill. I finished it all off with a SUPERB semifreddo with caramel. I can’t say enough about the pleasant experience we had coming here.

Prices will set you back about 40 euro for 4 courses but...

La "trattoria" (virgolettato perché si è perso il vero significato delle parole: è un ristorante e parecchio grande, non una trattoria), è un bel luogo con diverse sale, caminetto e posti all'aperto nella stagione estiva. Vi sconsiglio di andarci a pranzo di domenica in particolare se la stagione fredda è avanzata. Il tutto si riduce a un mangificio con un chiasso da bar sport (dovevamo gridare per riuscire a sentirci... tutt'altro che un pranzo rilassante in famiglia), una cameriera che sparava a raffica il menù con impazienza e fretta evidenti, tra l'altro non consultabile dal cliente (non mi piacciono i posti dove non posso vedere prima anche i prezzi), tanto che abbiamo dovuto richiedere quali fossero i piatti 3 volte. Alcuni di noi avevano chiesto degli antipasti, altri un antipasto e un primo, altri solo un secondo. Alla fine antipasti e secondi sono arrivati insieme! Così i malcapitati hanno passato il resto del pranzo girandosi i pollici, cose mai viste da altre parti. La qualità del cibo è buona ma nulla di eccezionale, non si differenzia da altri ristoranti anzi rimane parecchio sulla media, voto: 6. Alla fine siamo usciti mezzi assordati e infastiditi dal chiasso e dalle grida degli altri commensali senza che i proprietari richiamassero i bovari a un maggior contegno e rispetto del resto della clientela, anzi ci scherzavano insieme con grasse fastidiose...

Hands down, one of the best seafood restaurants around here. Great outdoor seating, and they have a play area for the kids. Swan pond was nice too. Excellent service and friendly atmosphere. We had the cold seafood antipasto, then grilled fish and shrimp, followed by cream puff dessert, covered with real chocolate, so it wasn't too sweet.
