Ristorante Pizzeria La Carretta — Restaurant in Portoferraio

Sorry, but these Pizzas were a shame to the Italian trade. They were awful and completely let down our evening. I so hoped a local specialist was worth the trip. We ordered plenty for our dinner on the beach. I wanted to share with those around, but the quality was so bad, I couldn't. Whilst waiting for and watching the preparation of a simplistic 5 pizzas takeaway, everyone was going about their jobs in an annoyed fashion, like they'd just landed in the restaurant trade from an other planet. I asked if they could slice the Pizzas...."No, we're too stressed". Never written a review before, but this place has drawn me to it (hopefully) for the greater good. I also got told off for putting my drink down in the wrong place. It's so bad, it might be worth a visit after all. Welcome to the inverted one star category. This is not (by the way) a rant into the void, I voiced my concerns on the service/attitude issues on the way out, but for their greater good and survival, I will also make the trip (again) to deliver the message personally in a well meaning fashion tomorrow. No english menu, no payment with a card possible, bad meal

Update. Such a liars. You never had english menu. Your wifi was broken from the start and you lied we can pay you with a credit card twice. And we never pretended to sit back to the very same table. You never told us the water is for money and you could charge for it later. Charged for it or put same bottle in the end? Most of all you told me its my problem your payment system doesnt work and you cant pay with credit card.

And you told me you would call the cops cause I dont pay. Haha, you had my credit card at the moment. And your system was broken, not mine. And I wasnt paying? Its all your fault.

We went there the last year. It is a very good restaurant also nearby the place we were staying overnight. We did not ask for a reservation but they gave us a table anyway. The place was well kept and clean. The staff was very courteous, competent and attentive, they asked us more than once if everything was fine. The waiter, who was assisting us, also spoke German and English. We asked for the house wine in bottle which was, if I am not mistaken, from the Elba's farm La Sughere. The waiter poured a little bit of wine on our glasses and made sure we liked it before to leave the bottle. I ate three colored gnocchi with prawns I appreciated it but, perhaps, I would have loved the sauce if it was accompanied with pasta instead. Then I had a perfect baked fish (I do not remember if it was a seabass or an orata) with crust of potatoes. Instead, the friend I was with took lasagna and another dish with meat and he liked it a lot. The dishes are generous, in fact we were very much stuffed. If we calculate the type of restaurant, the nice service and the location the prices are very honest and the fish is really fresh!

Ci siamo passati l'anno scorso. Ottimo ristorante oltretutto molto vicino al luogo in cui pernottavamo. Non avevamo prenotato ma ci hanno fatto comunque accomodare. Il locale è ben tenuto e pulito. Lo staff gentilissimo, competente e premuroso, ha chiesto più volte se tutto andava bene. Inoltre, il cameriere che ci ha servito parlava abbastanza bene sia tedesco che inglese. Abbiamo richiesto il vino della casa in bottiglia dell'Elba che, se non sbaglio, proveniva dall'azienda agricola Le Sughere e che ci è piaciuto. Il cameriere, inoltre, facendocelo assaggiare si è sincerato che andasse bene. Ho preso degli gnocchi tricolore con scampi che ho apprezzato sebbene, forse, avrei preferito della pasta e un ottimo pesce al forno (non ricordo, ora, quale poteva essere un branzino od un orata) con crosta di patate. Il mio amico, invece, ha preso delle lasagne ed un altro secondo di carne trovandosi molto bene. Le portate sono generose, eravamo infatti pieni. I prezzi, calcolando il tipo di ristorante, il servizio molto attento ed il luogo, sono onesti ed il pesce...
