An immersive experience of sublime bliss! I am blessed to have recently had the opportunity to share two different visits to this oasis nestled in the hills above the very popular tourist destination of Portofino. Osteria feu Coppelli, part of La Portofinese provides a respite from the crowds, a serene spot with the most delicious food, wine, honey and more all made on site…a true farm to table experience. I hope to return next year and walk around the eco farm, visit the bees and spend another afternoon with the charming and delightful people who made sure our experience was perfect!!! I was fortunate to meet Tatiana Viacava who graciously told me the history of her father-in-laws dream and how she and her husband now help continue his efforts in making it a beautiful reality. If you happen to be in this part of Italy it is worth making plans, and a reservation, for your own chance to experience La Portofinese.

Hard to describe to give this beautiful gem justice. In a national park 2000 feet above Portofino. Only one table for guests each evening. The meal is made with almost every ingredient raised, farmed or milled at the property. The salad might have been the best one we have ever had. The pasta was simple yet complex and simply great. The beef from Piemonte with local vegetables was akin to wagyu. Dessert was ethereal with fresh strawberries from the property. Extra virgin Olive oil tasting from the premises was supernal. Wines and beer and limonata all from the property. The staff (included a family member) was fabulous, friendly and educated us on the property’s history and produce. Arrangements must be made well in advance and we are thrilled we did so. This is one of the great reasons why one travels - to experience an unforgettable memory that you can never have at home.

Osteria dei Coppelli is an incredible place. The farm and views are majestic. The food is prepared to perfection. Everything is made on site - from the marmalade, to the pasta, honey and olive oil. All of the herbs and vegetables are right from the garden. This place is rare. Truly a one of a kind dining experience in a Ligurian garden surrounded by lemon trees. The staff can tell you the story behind every plant, every ingredient, and history behind the amazing Portofinese family. We will be back without a doubt

I rarely write reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I felt compelled to share. We recently booked the full La Portofinese Experience (Eco-Farm + Osteria) and, unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations, especially given the €1,000 price tag for two people. While the setting is beautiful and the staff were kind, the experience itself was extremely underwhelming and failed to deliver on what was advertised. For that price, what we actually received was an aperitif followed by a three-course vegetarian lunch. That’s it. There was no meaningful “experience” beyond the meal—no educational content, no demonstrations, and no interaction with the production of olive oil, wine, or honey. The visit lasted just 3 hours instead of the advertised 4.5, with no explanation or clear structure. Several key elements we had expected were completely absent: • No operational olive press • No demonstrations of olive oil, wine, or honey production • No free-range poultry • No immersive or educational components of any kind When we raised our concerns on-site, we were met with vague apologies and told that “it wasn’t the season.” Such information should be communicated in advance, not revealed only upon guests' arrival. We requested a partial refund, which was surprisingly denied. Instead, we were offered complimentary products, which we declined. At this price point, those items should be included in the experience, not offered as consolation for guest dissatisfaction. In the end, it felt like we paid €1,000 for an aperitif with a nice view and a vegetarian lunch—nothing more. A thoroughly underwhelming, overpriced, and misrepresented experience that left us...

I guess not everyone is welcomed the same at this exclusive elusive place. I have sent an enquiry message about 2 months in advance, wanting to reserve lunch for 4 people. First message back, yes it's available and we need to pay a deposit. (sure no problem). A few days later, one of the parties work schedule changed, so I wrote back to say we need to move our reservation one day forward. The lady then told me, they were fully booked... (random weekday - not weekend!), which seemed oddly suspicious. We still hiked the walk from San Fruttuoso to Portofino passing the Osteria - my suscpition was correct: they were not fully booked - in fact they were so not fully booked they weren't even open. Gates locked, couldnt even enter!!! Sorry not a good look for a so called 5* Restaurant! Looks like to me, it wasn't profitable enough to open the restaurant gor four people, so they lied and said they were...
