During my stay in Italy I was taken to a wonderful winery. I had a tour of the vineyard by a fifth generation wine maker who was not only knowledgeable about her family’s vineyard, but her meticulous knowledge of the region and wine making process was impressive. This young lady was intelligent, not to mention a marvelous hostess , but may I repeat all knowing when it came to the process of growing and making wines ! We had a lovely tasting with Francesca at Cantina Margiotta. Easy online booking, great communication before the tasting by email, tasting included a walk through the vineyards, a beautiful antipasto platter, a tasting of 3 wines and the Ratafià. All were wonderful, as was the conversation we had during the tasting with Francesca. If you're planning on visiting while on vacation, definitely go early in your trip so you can buy a few bottles to enjoy the rest of the trip. What a wonderful experience! Francesca is such a delight! She provided a beautiful description of the work of her family over 5 generations on this scenic property. The tasting room and experience were very fun and the POV of this winemaker with single varietal wines was really interesting. The tasting pairings of local specialties was absolutely delicious and so enjoyable. A tremendous value with all we got. Even though we had a mixed group of Italian and English speakers, it felt like a very personal experience....
