My group made reservations via email, which was confirmed by the owner (Mr. Serafini) for the Antica Trattoria. As we got there, noone knew about us. After some phonecalls the owner told us that he unintentionally reserved a table for us at his other restaurant (La Cozzeria). So we had to get back into the car and go to La Cozzeria, where we were served seafood. We were not given any food choices (which is an absolute no-go) and had to stick to an expensive 30 € dinner.
Furthermore, the staff told us an excuse about our table at Antica Trattoria, saying that "our" table is now already occupied by a group that made reservation for La Cozzeria, but ended up in the Antica Trattoria, which was probably a lie to cover up his mistake. A simple excuse would have been better.
A few days later we wanted to give the restaurant a second chance. The owner did not pick up his phone so we went for an email, stating that we would really like to eat at Antica Trattoria this time. His response was no more than "Ok". So we went there on that evening, standing in front of a closed restaurant, noone there, noone picking up the phone.
Well, how can you rely on someones confirmation if that person messes up twice within a few days? Even if the food was goog, i wouldn't go there - this is not the way paying customers...
Read moreTwice I tried to make reservations for a group of 8. Twice I got confirmation by Mr. Serafini.
First time we got there (Saturday), they told us there was no reservation under my name. After rechecking because of my insistence, they informed us that apparently, the owner has two restaurants and made reservations for us at his other restaurant (La Cozzeria) by mistake. So we had to go there instead (by car and trying to find a parking spot yet again, which was difficult). They only offered us a fixed menu of seafood there, even though other people were clearly eating other stuff as well. No apology or recompense whatsoever.
Second time we went there (Wednesday), after having confirmed our reservation with Mr. Serafini, the restaurant WASN'T EVEN OPEN - we had to find something else entirely for the whole group on extremely short notice (the difficulties with that I won't get into). No one ever contacted me again.
To be clear: I used the email adress at their official website to make reservations - it was always Mr. Serafini who answered and confirmed my reservation.
As to the food, I can't say, since we never got the chance to actually have dinner at Dar Mammozzaro and now we definitely never will try again.
Really a shame how they are treating potential customers - and a big...
Read moreWe have chosen this place for dinner on our last day of holiday. We were welcome in with a smile, and we didn't book in advance, but we arrived early as they opened at 8 pm. We understand more Italian than actually speaking, but that wasn't an issue as the waiter who attended us spoke very well English. We have chosen a white house wine, cold, refreshing, and sweet. For starters, we went for the fried mixed, and they were delicious, hot, and surprisingly delicious. And for the main course, we went for some delicious pasta dishes that I was surprised at how delicious and cooked to perfection. I love pasta, but this was something I had never had before. And we finished our dinner with perfect tiramisu and ice cream and accompanied them with a good coffee. Overall, the night was perfect! I highly recommend this place if you want to try good authentic roman food. You can't go wrong with nothing. The atmosphere was so welcoming. The waiter was so nice and attentive, and the prices were fair. The place was clean, spot on, and you have the English menu offered if Italian language is a struggle for you. We will definitely come back in our...
