Ristorante La Marinella — Restaurant in Quartu Sant'Aleni/Quartu Sant'Elena

Visited this restaurant yesterday with my family and the waiter MAURO served us. I asked him i want sea bass which cost €20 and he showed me what it looked like. I asked for two seabass so €40. Once the bill arrives the two "seabass" i ordered turned out to be €165 euros. I asked him why is the fish so expensive when we chose sea bass and then he began to lie and say I pointed/chose "fish of the day" which was a lie. I asked him to bring the manager and eventually after 20 minutes he did. We explained to the manager the situation and he changed our bill from €257 to €210, when we were meant to pay €132. The manager said Mauro mentioned that he explained "fish of the day to us" which was bullshit because Mauro lied to his manager. The waiter Mauro avoided eye contact with us and his face looked so guilty. We gave the manager €140 and he said he will call the police. I asked another female colleague who has dark brown hair when the police will arrive and she then says " i dont understand English" even though she was able to speak in English before. The police eventually came and I explained the issue to them. The police were nice and respectful however the police and manager were speaking in Italian infront of us, even though I asked them to speak in English, bearing in mind the manager and the Police were able to speak in English.

If you're a tourist, avoid this restaurant at all cost, they scam tourist and the workers there act like they're victims. The manager did apologise to us but this still doesn't change the situation.

Make sure MAURO ( who wears glasses, dark hair, slim build) doesn't serve you because he clearly doesn't know how to do his job properly.

As you can see from the receipt, we ordered food which we found affordable so why would we order a fish...

Tutto è iniziato a maggio, quando mio marito e mia suocera sono andati a visionare i locali del ristorante in vista del battesimo di nostro figlio che si è tenuto a fine luglio. Sono stati accolti da Claudia, scagnozza del proprietario Mohammed, che ha mostrato loro le tre sale: una interna, una chiusa che dava sulla spiaggia e la terrazza, senza fare cenno ad eventuali differenze di prezzo. A distanza di qualche tempo, mi sono recata personalmente con mio marito per vedere le sale in quanto non ne avevo avuto la possibilità in precedenza e consegnare l'acconto in modo da bloccare la sala e la data. Ci ha riaccolti Claudia, mostrandoci velocemente la sala chiusa che dava sulla spiaggia e altrettanto velocemente, ammetto, abbiamo deciso di riservare quella per il nostro evento, sebbene ci avesse dato ancora ampia disponibilità sia per quella che per la terrazza. Lo stesso giorno ho avuto modo di vedere anche la terrazza, mi è piaciuta di più e la sera successiva, con la scusa di prendere un aperitivo, abbiamo approfittato per chiedere il cambio sala. In quell'occasione Claudia ci ha accolti col fantomatico proprietario Mohammed che ha cercato in tutti i modi di venderci la terrazza ad un prezzo maggiore di quello previsto inizialmente. Noi abbiamo rifiutato e siamo rimasti fermi con la nostra prima scelta - sala fronte spiaggia, che ci era stata GARANTITA ESCLUSIVAMENTE per gli ospiti del nostro battesimo, A PRESCINDERE DAL LORO NUMERO. La sera del battesimo, Appena arrivati in ristorante ed entrati nella sala da noi richiesta, abbiamo subito notato che c'erano dei tavoli occupati da altri clienti. I tavoli degli ospiti erano completamente appiccicati su un lato della sala e il bancone delle pietanze era poco distante da loro: gli ospiti non potevano neppure portare indietro le sedie per potersi alzare poiché rischiavano di sbattere con coloro che erano seduti alle loro spalle e tantomeno potevano sostare al bancone del cibo per via del poco spazio nonostante la richiesta concordata fosse stata quella del buffet. Essendo i tavoli con un numero fisso di sedie e non potendo stare in piedi, gli ospiti non hanno potuto prendere posto secondo le loro preferenze, spesso dividendosi in tavoli differenti. Unica nota positiva: la ragazza (forse caposala) ha immediatamente preso le redini della situazione, organizzando lo staff affinché si occupassero al meglio di noi trasformando l'impossibile buffet in servizio al tavolo. La ciliegina sulla torta è stata proprio la torta: acquistata in una nota pasticceria di Cagliari e vista dai sottoscritti una volta pronta, a detta del personale è stata rovinata in cucina da qualcuno che ha ben pensato di poggiarci sopra qualcosa, rovinando totalmente la decorazione. Anche qui, la ragazza sopracitata ha cercato di porre rimedio per quanto fosse nelle sue possibilità rifacendo la scritta. In tutta la sera, il proprietario non si è avvicinato neanche una volta nonostante fosse lì intorno a ronzare e fosse stato reclamato molte volte da noi. Solamente a fine serata, dopo l'ennesima richiesta, si è presentato in modo scorbutico e scontroso, con linguaggio maleducato e volgare contro tutti noi e in particolare contro mia suocera (donna di 70 anni) senza scusarsi minimamente per l'accaduto e andandosene con gesti altrettanto volgari e ovviamente con la coda di paglia. Mentre andavamo via, persino tutto lo staff che fino a quel momento era stato cortese ed esemplare, si è scusato con noi. La Marinella, ci rivedremo presto... Appena cambierai gestione perché non penso passerà...

Holidaying in south west Sardinia from the U.K. in mid June 2022, we visited this restaurant for lunch.

It is located in the area of Quartu , right by the beach, which is to the east of Poetto.

The venue has a cafe area and a restaurant area - we visited both.

It is very welcoming, clean, has a nice atmosphere and looks out onto the beach and sea.

Earlier in the day we sat in the cafe area outdoors and had nice cappuccino and some pastries.

At lunch, we moved to the restaurant, where we were allocated a nice table by the window, looking out on to the beach and sea.

We were attended to by Jeans throughout - he was very pleasant, helpful and professional.

For the first courses we had fresh prawns, langoustine and oysters plus a octopus with potato salad.

For the second course we had pasta with clams plus tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms and prawns.

A Big shout out to Jeans for an exquisite service and for looking out for us.

This is a must visit restaurant - welcoming clean, well decorated, nice atmosphere, great food, excellent service and good value.
