Easily the worst meal I ate during my stay in wonderful Sardinia, with the worst service and atmosphere of any restaurant I visited, during my otherwise brilliant trip to this wonderful island. Just completely mediocre from entry to exit.
We were a table of five, and some of us ordered starters, and others ordered mains. The mains came out at the same time as the starters, and then a full hour passed before the remaining mains came out. They offered no explanation about it other than what amounted to little more than a disinterested shrug.
The food itself was awful. I had the “sliced beef”, which was a miserly, tiny portion, and was overcooked and chewy - literally like a an old boot. It was enormously expensive for such a tiny, poorly cooked piece of meat. The chimchurri sauce, which was awful, was unique in that it was the only time I’ve experienced that combination of ingredients producing literally no flavour.
My wife had some kind of seafood platter, but portions of it were completely inedible, and tasted rotten. Friday fish.
One of the children had the “Donald duck”from the kids menu, which was a breaded chicken cutlet, and it was truly, truly abysmal. It was as dry as a cracker, but with less flavour.
Another had the salted fish, and once deboned, there was approximately 50g of edible fish.
We got the “delicate sponge cake” for dessert, and it was vile. It was so hard that my daughter had to use two hands to break through it with a spoon. It was covered in a disgusting gelatine-like sauce that was literally like rubber. My daughter ate two mouthfuls and gave up in confusion and disgust.
Worst of all, though, was the atmosphere. They had a wedding there at the same time, with a singer that was just utterly, shockingly bad, and it was so loud you couldn’t even have a conversation. I don’t know whose idea it is to host wedding AT THE RESTAURANT DURING DINNER SERVICE, but at least get the singer to turn down the volume. It’s not the wedding party’s fault obviously. Many happy returns to them.
Please don’t eat here. There are so, so many other places in this truly beautiful area that put this dump to shame.
I have no idea how this place is reviewed so highly. Don’t go.
Also, my wife has just reminded me that the other dessert we ordered didn’t come with the mousse it was advertised with.
One of our party had a salmon and potato dish that was, “very nice”. Her experience was unique. The panna cotta...
Read moreThis place was a big letdown. With a good rating and so many reviews we expected a decent beach restaurant. It turns out these are three businesses: restaurant, beach bar, and disco. And most reviews are not for the restaurant.
We came on a hot day and asked to sit inside with an AC. They said they'll get a table ready and told us to wait outside in the sun (not sure that was necessary and it took quite long in the heat). Then the owner showed up and thinking we couldn't understand Italian instructed the waiter to convince us to sit outside, as we'll be 'closer to the beach'. When we refused, they gave us a table next to the open door, in direct sunlight (the restaurant was empty, and there was only one birthday party in the corner later, while we were there). The owner (a rather large lady) sat in the corner under AC and observed, communicating with the guests almost exclusively through staff, which she called to her occasionally. You could feel the stingy vibe, which was confirmed later when we saw them add water to our order of fresh pressed orange juice.
The service didn't improve from there, and the food was average at best, and quite pricy for what it was. So as a restaurant I would definitely not recommend it. The place was also a bit run down with rust visible in many places. As a beach bar, I think it's also pretty bad as the water is almost completely brown from sea weed (photos included).
All in all, I don't understand how this place had so many positive reviews. I'd...
Read moreHolidaying in south west Sardinia from the U.K. in mid June 2022, we visited this restaurant for lunch.
It is located in Quartu, east of Poetto.
The venue is clean, well decorated, nice atmosphere and is magnificently located right by the beach.
We were warmly welcomed to the restaurant.
As it was a very warm day, we took a table inside the restaurant, which was nice and cool.
We were looked after by Emmanuel - he was very pleasant and professional throughout.
We started with a nice assortment of local breads and cold water.
For the first course we had a fresh seafood platter with crab, prawns, mussels and oysters plus freshly made penne pasta with tender pieces of beef with herbs.
For the second course we had pasta with clams plus deep fried mixed seafood mainly squid, prawns.
We finished our meal with a non-alcoholic lime digestive, made by the restaurant bar.
A big shout out to Emmanuel for looking out for us very well throughout.
I strongly recommend you visit this restaurant - welcoming, clean, good atmosphere, nicely decorated, great location, nice food, exquisite service and good value..
I would suggest you try dishes food at antipasti, first course and second course to truly appreciate the great...
