Pappare' Emilia — Restaurant in Reggio nell'Emilia

Love the place. Have been going there for a while. The place is one of its kind (not a typical Italian bar with coffee and cornettos). That's the only place in Reggio where I see lots of people studying, reading books or working on their laptops. And all the tables have perfect hight for that. It's a huge place - seems like 5 different places, all of which have their own special vibe. There are many tables for only 2 people, a few for 5-6 people (perfect for group projects), and the inside "garden" with a few tables for smokers. I've only tried croissants/cornettos there, and they're delicious (I can definitely recommend the ones with chocolate or forest fruit). I also haven't found another place in Reggio with two sizes of cappucino, which they have. The tea is also available. There's a table service, but sometimes it takes a while for the staff to notice (If you're in a rush, you can always order at the counter though). I'll definitely try the lunch and breakfast options in the future. The staff is really friendly and helpful. Ok I ended up there because all the places I wanted to go were closed because of the long weekend.

So I'll start with the positive: the young man who took my order was kind. He offered me a free coffee because of the negative below, which was a nice attempt (but I didn't even feel like accepting it).

The negative: I got my glass of wine quickly, but after 30 minutes, I had to ask about my burrito. It was far from rush hour (only a few people) and it was the basic one so not much cooking involved... I finally got it, but it looked as it tasted: sad. There was a lot of rice, and I'm 99% sure it's tasteless instant rice. White instead of red beans like in a classic burrito. I was warned about the spicy tabasco, but I didn't even feel that (and there are other ways to give flavor to a meal than this basic sauce!). I felt like I wasted a meal in Italy, which makes me sad. They also need to check the bathrooms more often, it feels dirty with the too-full bins.

Sono stata domenica mattina per colazione col mio compagno e dire che si può gridare allo scandalo è poco. Arriviamo alle 10:30 del mattino, entriamo e chiediamo se possiamo sederci all’aperto. Il ragazzo che ci risponde ci dice di sederci dove troviamo un posto libero, così usciamo e ci sediamo nel primo tavolino libero (da sparecchiare). Dopo cinque minuti vengono a liberarci il tavolo, chiediamo il menù ma senza successo. Dopo altri 10 minuti richiediamo il menù che non ci viene portato nemmeno questa volta, così andiamo sul sito del locale sperando di trovarlo, e alle 11:07 quindi più di mezz’ora dopo il nostro arrivo, chiamiamo un cameriere per prenderci l’ordine dopo che avevano già ordinato 5/6 tavoli accanto al nostro arrivati molto dopo di noi. Finalmente effettuiamo l’ordine, nel frattempo i famosi 5/6 tavoli erano già in fase di degustazione della loro colazione! Visto le tempistiche mettiamo un timer per vedere a che ora sarebbe arrivata la colazione. Alle 11:40 ancora non si erano visti i nostri pancake e nemmeno il cappuccino e la spremuta, così chiamiamo il cameriere per chiedere lumi e lui anziché scusarsi, dà la colpa alla “collega nuova che fa casini” e senza aver ascoltato le nostre lamentele, ci porta 2 menù. Noi stizziti gli diciamo che abbiamo già ordinato 40 minuti prima ma che nulla era arrivato! Passano altri 12 minuti d’orologio e il cameriere si presenta con 2 frullati e 1 brioche! Nulla di quello che avevamo ordinato! A quel punto, dopo 42 minuti dal nostro ordine, erano praticamente le 12:00, ora di pranzo, ci siamo alzati e gli abbiamo detto che non avremmo più voluto nulla, perché dalle 10:30 alle 12:00 per una colazione, era...
