Volpe — Restaurant in Rosignano Marittimo

Found by chance on a damp Sunday evening. Arrived as they opened and able to get one of the few remaining tables. So, do book! Service was excellent from the English speaking staff. Drinks were served promptly. Marked down slightly on the food, as my 1st choice main wasn't available but the chef came out to explain the lamb alternative. When it arrived it was delicious, albeit a smaller portion than expected. My starter was a mistake on my part. I ordered the lampredotto, not certain what it was. Didn't look that good on arrival but I ate half. The taste was OK but not fantastic like the octopus that my son had. Lots of others were taking pizzas away, or having those to eat. A German man had a huge 1kg T bone steak next to us. He demolished it but his daughters fell foul of medium cooked burgers. Both were too rare for their delicate taste buds. We didn't have dessert, or see any others do so. But, maybe we were ahead of everyone else, as they were enjoying the excellent atmosphere, despite the several raindrops falling. Would happily visit again and be spoiled for choice of the menu. But, the T bone might be top of my list. Highly...

I guess it could be 5 stars. It just went wrong.. probably because I ask something that was not on the menu.. I just would like a frutti di.mare.. not on the menu.. but the nice helpfully waiter told he would do. I ask Also for a small meat / cheese plate as a starter..which was really perfect. The frutti di.mare.. simply not my tast. And to be honest I would never serve what i got. Better say . We don't do. Later. After returning.. I would suspect a sort of compensation ..at least a suggestion? But no. Which is not correct. Then I ask just for something small.. a little cheese. Not possible.. need to spend another 15 euro? Just sad. Mis communications.. and it's just sometimes better to say no. Still.. I think. If you are around.. try it. And proof me I am wrong 😉 ps. Owner, remove your place at Google is a pizza place ..your for sure more...

Horrible service. I usually don't care much about the service, but this was a joke.

We tried to order drinks about 5 times, tried waving, tried "calling", feels like they intentionally avoided eye-contact/us because they felt uncomfortable with speaking English. We stayed for over an hour, during which we managed to order food and an initial drink. Then when we asked for the check (which also was near impossible because of the avoidance), we then waited for 15min (and slurped on our water), they never came. We eventually stood up and walked up to them and paid.
