VILLA CANTONI MARCA — Restaurant in Sabbioneta

We drove from Germany with our car to Italy and found this absolut gem! It’s close to all the amazing beautiful city’s here in the north of Italy. I highly recommend a day in Venice or also Verona! The staff and everyone else in the villa was treating us like family and we felt more than welcome here! The rooms are very clean and spacious. The garden is huge and has sun around all day. They also recommended us a few restaurants close to the villa which were also fantastic - also they have their own restaurant within the villa where we often had lunch and dinner! Definitely coming back for another time - maybe also as a quick stop when driving to the south of Italy. Special shout out to...

Buongiorno, ho partecipato al matrimonio di 2 cari amici il 3 giugno 23. Avevo già sentito parlare bene del locale quindi arrivavo con aspettative alte. La location non delude, veramente molto bella un giardino con alberi secolari molto bello. Le mura, un ex convento completamente ristrutturato con gusto. Veramente bello. Allestimento del matrimonio di alto livello con gazebo bianchi, tavoli molto belli. Per quanto riguarda il personale, un po' troppo giovane per il tipo di evento, molto cortesi e genitili, ma, con l'esperienza avrebbero provveduto a coprire il buffet all'aperto dove le mosche imperversavano. Il menù molto gustoso e ben preparato ma, la catena del freddo, secondo capitolato HACCP, poteva essere rispettato con più scrupolo, infatti alcune portate di pesce avevano una temperatura alta (erano piatti freddi)e un gusto vagamente andato oltre. Per non parlare dell'acqua in bottiglia, mio figlio si è lamentato del sapore strano dell' acqua (temperatura ambiente e lasciata al sole). Il giorno dopo il matrimonio, la metà dei partecipanti è stata male, compresi mia moglie e mio figlio più grande (io e il piccolo che si era addormentato in auto siamo arrivati più tardi). Quasi tutti hanno rilevato da esami successivi il Noravirus. Dagli sposi abbiamo saputo che quando l'Asl ha fatto i controlli, il giovedì successivo , nei locali, non ha riscontrato nulla. Però l'atteggiamento dei gestori che hanno subito dato la colpa alla pasticceria (io ho mangiato i dolci e non ho avuto nessun problema) e a noi ospiti poi, dicendo che qualcuno di noi aveva portato il virus, non è parso professionale. Prima si cerca di capire cos'è successo e poi, si parla di eventuali responsabilità, nell'interesse della salute di tutti. Tra l'altro tra i contagiati c'era pure una...

Very nice place with both indoor and outdoor seats and tables. It is possible to have lunch or dinner and there are also some beautiful rooms where stay for one or more night. Amazing and relaxing garden.

About the restaurant, actually the number of dishes is a bit limited (recently opened), but the overall quality is excellent. High food quality, average food quantity (some dishes are very copious, others a little poor), prices are right. Good wine selection and service.
