My wife and I returned to the Signaterhof 4 years after our first visit. Both trips were associated with attending a conference in nearby Bressanone. We arrived at the Signaterhof late in the evening and were warmly welcomed. Our room, number 4, was on the second floor and had a lovely deck. The Signaterhof sits high above the valley and the views are spectacular. The room was spacious very comfortable. The best part of the evening was yet to come, dinner. The Signaterhof is well known for its outstanding cucina. Dinner was excellent with selections of homemade pasta's for primi and wild game, fowl and beef for secondi. Personally I had the fresh porcini pasta and beef cheek. A bottle of local Ligrein riserva was the perfect match for our dinners. The Signaterhof prides itself on locally sourced food and expert preparation. After 4 years the quality of the dinner and lodging has remained excellent. We will have our next conference in 4 years and we will definitely arrive a day early so I can visit Signaterhof again....

Read moreJudging from the other reviews we.must have been at a different place. We got an uneasy, almost unfriendly, vibe from the staff. My wife picked up some paper in front of the gasthof (something you don't see very often in Alto Adige, so we thought to keep the street clean) and asked if they could throw it away. We got some very weird looks as if this was the strangest thing ever. Bringing a young child to this placeis also not the best idea: again, rather cold service when we asked for a high chair. Service improved somewhat during our meal but the damage was done. Food is fine local cuisine although they could go easier on the salt. Conclusion: there's better slow food restaurants...
