Breathtakingly unwelcoming and unfriendly reception. This was the worst refuge I have encountered in three months of hiking through Slovenia, Austria and Italy. The manager appears to think he is running a five star hotel in the centre of Milan, not an Alpine Club refuge in the mountains. It was so awful that despite being tired after a hard day and having just fallen and hurt my hand, I opted to continue walking rather than stay at this dreadful place. Not a recommended stop on the E5.
Edit: Firstly, I was not there on Sunday, it was a Friday and the place was almost empty. At most 10 other people.
Secondly, I was not ordering food, I wished to stay at the refuge.
Thirdly, my German is poor, but I was doing my best to use it. The manger refused to speak slowly so I could understand, despite REPEATED requests to do so. In the end, a young staff member had to translate his impatient, very fast speech for me.
I am an Alpine Club member, however when I produced my membership card, he treated me as if I was trying to defraud him, despite the card clearly showing the reciprocal membership rights symbol. The card is accepted throughout Europe, including in multiple other Italian Alpine Club refuges.
It is fortunate that after three months of continuous hiking in the mountains, I am extremely fit and strong and I was able to continue, with a 20kg pack and walk for 9.5 hours in order to find somewhere more welcoming to stay. Hatten uns lange gefreut und schon vergessen, dass die Speisekarte beim letzten mal auch wenig Erfreuliches bot.
Vegan: Null Bio: Null. Regional: keine Herkunftsbezeichnungen Vegetarisch: das Service schaut fragend. Fragt dann in der Küche: Die Gerichte alle fertig, Käseknödel lassen sich nicht heraustrennen, jede Suppe aus Fleisch bzw. mit Speck. Dafür wird dann 3x Speckkraut uä. angeboten.
Notlösung: Krautsalat (schmeckt trocken und geschmacklos) Es wird kein Essig/Öl/Pfeffer/Salz angeboten, draußen nirgendwo sichtbar Dafür wurden uns 2x 6€ verrechnet Kaiserschmarrn: auf der Geschmacksarmut so viel grober Zucker, dass die anspruchslose und hungrige Kollegin es bei der Hälfte stehen ließ. Passend der Großbehälter Maggi in der Küche neben den tw. ind. Fertigprodukten.
Am Ende inc. 3 Getränken 41.-€ und für uns beide ein Klumpen im hallbleeren Magen. Eine pampige Antwort der Chefin auf den zarten Hinweis dass dem Krautsalat Essig/Öl/Gewürz gut getan hätte schließt die Erfahrung ab.
Dafür schien die Abendsonne schön aufs Essen...

Esperienza positiva per il cibo ad eccezione di un pittore che consisteva in carne bollita con salsa verde e patate. La carne era secca e simile a cartone. Evidentemente tagliata molto prima dell'ordine e non lasciata nel brodo. E' stata immediatamente rimandata indietro ma, alla fine del pasto fatta pagare. Quando mia moglie ha chiesto il perché e stata trattata in maniera maleducata chiedendole di che nazionalità era e affermando che non capiva niente di cucina. Faccio notare che fra di noi tutti lavorano nella ristorazione ad eccezione dello scrivente, fra cui uno opera come chef in unconosciuto ristorante di Bolzano. La scena è finita con una cameriera che ha portato in mano la carne in questione, mia moglie non la accettata, probabilmente la ha mangiata qualcuno il giorno dopo.
