A Culinary Gem in the Heart of Tuscany**

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Il Borgo Machiavelli in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, and it was an experience to remember. Nestled in a beautifully restored 16th-century estate, the restaurant offers a perfect blend of historical charm and modern elegance.

Ambiance: The setting is nothing short of magical. Surrounded by lush vineyards and olive groves, the restaurant exudes a romantic and serene atmosphere. The interior is tastefully decorated, maintaining its historical essence while providing all the modern comforts one could desire.

Cuisine: The food is simply outstanding. The menu features a delightful mix of traditional Tuscan dishes and innovative creations, all made with fresh, local ingredients. Each dish is a work of art, both visually and in taste. I particularly enjoyed the pappardelle with wild boar ragu and the tiramisu, which were both exceptional.

Service: The staff at Il Borgo Machiavelli are warm, attentive, and knowledgeable. They go above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels welcome and well taken care of. Their recommendations were spot-on, and their passion for the food and wine was evident.

Wine Selection: The wine list is impressive, featuring a wide range of Tuscan wines that perfectly complement the dishes. The sommelier was very helpful in guiding us through the selection, and we enjoyed some truly remarkable wines.

Overall, Il Borgo Machiavelli offers a dining experience that is both enchanting and unforgettable. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking to enjoy a wonderful meal in a beautiful setting, this restaurant is a must-visit. I...

Like many of you reading this review, we are a group of Americans visiting Tuscany. While highly recommended, our group of 12 had a very disappointing experience all related to the service provided. It started with the fact that our waiter did not take any time to explain the menu. When he took the food order he missed one person’s drink, and the entire meal for another person. When he was made aware that he missed a person's order, he challenged the mistake with attitude, and said he would bring the meal out while the majority of the table was already done with their meal. Throughout the night he made zero visits to the table to see if everything was ok, and if he had, he would have known that we had concerns. When the people supporting the waiter brought our food to the table, they had no idea who had ordered what and it became a game of raising our hands when they yelled out what they were delivering. We would have gladly had more wine and more water, but were never given the chance to order more.

I suspect that language was a barrier, but interestingly we have not run into that issue at any of the other restaurants we...

To start off, the location and the view Borgo Machiavelli offers is beautiful! We went to the restaurant with a group of 9 people and were seated on their big terrace. I found the service between courses a little slow and we had to ask for stuff a couple of times before it was brought to us. Tried the fusilli, zucchini flowers and the fiorentina. They were all good, but lacked a little something. The fried zucchini flowers and the fiorentina were missing just a little seasoning, and although I like al dente, they brought al dente to another level with the fusilli. Can’t say I didn’t enjoy my experience. It was good, but a bit more seasoning and better service would’ve made a huge difference.

Arguably one of my best nights in Italy was spent enjoying a banquet at the Villa Machiavelli. Attentive staff plus talented musicians created an merry atmosphere that encouraged conversation and laughter. Before the dinner we were treated to a tour of the house and given some of the history of its famous former owner - Machiavelli, Renaissance statesman and author of The Prince. When we sat down to the meal we were delighted by the quality. My truffle pasta was superb! Later the meat was brought out by two burly men and the crowd cheered them on. One thing that stuck in my mind was the excellent blue champagne - must get some!

Beautiful place. Was brought here with a group and seemed like there could be many different experiences in many cool seating areas depending on what you pay for. We were put in a basic room with lots of tables. There was a guitar player and a woman singing to us. Food was decent and wine was okay. My experience felt very touristy and manufactured, but it wasn't horrible. For being in such a historical place, a tour would have been nice rather than a quick walk through the wine cellar and then corralled into dinner.
